An interview with Paradox Development Studios about supporting Linux

Paradox is one of my favorite developers. In fact, my top three in no particular order are Valve, Feral, and Paradox. They've done great things for our favorite OS.

What are you playing this weekend?

I'm still trying to wrap my head around Hearts of Iron IV. It's starting to make sense, and I thought I was doing pretty well as Italy... until I suddenly got annexed by a revolutionary army made up of my own people who wanted to enforce communism. I would have dealt with them, except I was locked in a bitter meat-grinder of a war with Switzerland, and I didn't have any troops to spare to fight off the threat.

Titan Quest RPG could see a Linux version in future

Quoting: BOYSSSSSDidn't expect that one coming. Love this game, played it a lot back in the day. Will be looking forward to a Linux port, thou I thought it was abandoned long ago.
The poor sales were blamed on piracy. The game had a number of copy protection checks that would cause it to suddenly exit to desktop if a check ever failed. Unfortunately, a lot of pirates mistook these for crashes and complained about it on the forums (of course without mentioning that they were playing a pirated copy), and so the game developed a reputation for being buggy.

Least that's the story the developers have told.

The links go to the hosting company's website. I wonder if the developer forgot to pay his bill?

I've had this in my Steam library for years when I bought it for Windows, and I always thought it was just OK. It's a typical Diablo-clone in that it's inherently fun but not as good as the Diablo games.

You can now map the Steam Controller's buttons to different key presses and modes

It's getting to the point where we're going to need elaborate cheat-sheets to keep track of the control mapping. The Steam Controller is one of the most revolutionary pieces of hardware to come to the PC in years.

I really wish Valve had stuck to their original design and dispensed with the analog stick, because the way the Steam Controller is designed, I find it wholly unnecessary.

Quoting: mrmangoI have the Athena, which is essentially a Clevo. Like the ones other Linux computer sellers use. It has a 970 and it doesn't chug for me. Yeah in a few the card will not seem that fast. But if you want laptop that works with Linux and is decent with games. The range looks like a good range in general :)
Yep! I got the same exact laptop but in the 17in version. I recognize the bezels on the top of the screen, the case texture and the power button look and position. Got the same hardware too but with the GTX980m. In fact, it's the computer I'm using to type this message.

For my part, it works great and the perfs are awesome. Just had to make a rollback on the gpu driver because of texture applications problems (SoM where characters had no bodies, just a floating head...) and it didn't work with Ubuntu 16.04 ootb. Mir or KDE refused to start and I was left with the desktop background without any menus. KDE was even worst, I was left with a frozen screen with an underscore. Could'nt even access the terminal. So I decided to stick to Ubuntu 14.04. Has it been fixed?
There's an easy fix for the Shadow of Mordor bug. I can't tell you what it is at the moment since I'm not at my PC, but it's a simple matter of adding some launch options in Steam.

As for the Ubuntu 16.04, I can't help you there since I haven't had a lick of trouble with it.

Quoting: jasondaigoi worked a couple of years for dell and i really tried to get into that touchpad and notebook keyboard thing; but i just cant; it would not safe any space for me as i still want my roccat kybd and mouse. a barebone would safe space maybe :-) naah im fine; notebooks suck...
It would save space even with the peripherals simply because I wouldn't have to contend with the big, metal box that my PC currently resides in.

But like I said, the limited ability to replace components is the deal breaker.

I would love to replace my desktop with a high-end gaming laptop simply for the convenience and space-saving, but the fact that laptops are generally not upgradable is always the deal-killer. I can afford to upgrade my graphics card or CPU every few years. I can't afford a whole a new computer every few years.

Steam's Summer Sale to apparently begin on June 23rd

My Steam wishlist is near 100, but I use it mainly as a way to keep track of games that interest me. There's no way I'd ever have the money to buy them all nor the time to play them. I go through my wishlist every few months and purge it.
