Quoting: GuestI just hope Blizzard implement this in WoW because it really is the one and only game/application that annoyingly keeps me dual booting.I thought WoW ran perfectly in Wine.
One can dream.

Quoting: GuestFrom the sound of the GDC talks there will be a few Vulkan titles released by this time next month, so I'm excited to see what they are.The question is, does Vulkan support automatically mean Linux support?

From what I understand, documentation and support have been the two biggest obstacles to OpenGL. Hopefully things are starting to turn around.
Amazon launches Lumberyard, a free game engine that will support Linux and have source access

"It's completely free to download and use too, which is quite nice of Amazon to do."
They're not doing it to be nice, they're doing it to be competitive. Remember, every other major game engine is also available for free, so it would be business suicide if Amazon tried to charge for theirs.

I'm getting really nice performance, but the texture bug does seem to be more prominent. I'm getting low res ground textures.

Quoting: GuestI've encountered it occasionally before today.Quoting: Mountain ManThe texture bug isn't new.New for me, I've never had horrible low-res textures while playing on medium or high settings that I remember.

I guarantee that Valve knows exactly how many people are using Linux and SteamOS. They need to be able to track that information to make sure the right developers get paid, so I've never been entirely clear on the point of the hardware survey.

Quoting: runeThey use the same base engine, but no developer uses a game engine "as is".Quoting: melkemindAh I see. I just read some of the Windows reviews and how bad the performance is on it too. I think that still raises some questions about the engine though. It's a "last gen" engine that developers are trying to mix with "next gen" graphical features. It seems to repeatedly end badly (like the Arkham Knight fiasco). They should have aimed for Unreal Engine 4, even if it delayed the release date a little. From an article explaining why the game had to be PC exlusive:
XCOM 2 runs on a heavily modified version of Unreal Engine 3.5 (Firaxis’ customizations are too extensive to easily move to Unreal 4), which in some ways has been rewritten to the point of being “unrecognizable,” and it’s much simpler to make that work on one platform than three or more at once.So their engine is not the same engine that Arkham Knight, etc. are using.
(Arkham Knight was a really bad port, and if the engine was the problem, then they probably used a modified one)

I have perfectly smooth performance in XCOM, and while I realize it's an older game, I'm not seeing anything in XCOM 2 to lead me to believe that the graphics have been substantially updated, and it's running on the same engine as the previous game, so the poor performance is puzzling.
I'm also seeing complaints on the official forums about mission turn-limits which force you to rush through certain levels, and some bugs with the Vipers where they can grab soldiers through walls.
