Speculation: A job posting for Elite Dangerous hints at possible future Linux support

I was put-off of Elite: Dangerous because of the scammy nature of their early access program (charging something like 4 times the price for the "privilege" of beta testing), and I'm not entirely sure I want to support the developers because of it.
GOL Cast: Wandering Around Morrowind in OpenMW

Quoting: slaapliedjeWhile I have beaten the main game, I had lost my save for when the expansions came out. From what a friend had told me, even though at the end of Morrowind, you can pretty much slaughter any enemy, in the expansioins you get your butt handed to you. This is a good thing. The Bloodmoon expansion had a funny (though frustrating) game-breaking bug in the very first mission. Basically, you were tasked with killing one of two people (I don't remember the specifics), and if you completed the task, the other would permanently aggro you even though you needed to talk to them to continue with the game. The really funny part is that they would charge you and start flailing their weapon while quoting their "friendly" dialog -- "Hello, friend!" "Can I help you?" "I think I saw a mudcrab near the river." etc.

Quoting: gojulCurrently I prefer to wait'n'see... After all the port for Project CARS was announced a while ago, and we're still waiting for it. :'(As far as I know, the Project Cars announcement was much more ambivalent than this announcement.

Awesome! \o/
And native Steam Controller support?
Even more awesome! \o/
And glad to see Valve taking a part here. It proves their commitment to the platform, which is... what's the word? Oh yeah, awesome!

I've wanted to play this game ever since I saw the adorable white fox, so I'm happy it's coming to Linux.

It looks... interesting, though I can't really get a handle on exactly how the game will play. Is it an actual role playing with character progression and meaningful choices and consequences, or is it a "roll" playing game, where character progression is automatic and dialog options are basically:
"Hey! Let's go rescue Uncle Bob!"
>Yes
>No
[Player selects "no"]
"Don't be silly. Of course you want to rescue Uncle Bob! Let's go!"
Well, let's hope they make good on their promise of a Linux version, because we've been burned too many times before.

"...hopefully more big developers will use it instead of Nvidia's GameWorks."
Hopefully more big developers will move away from proprietary solutions and stick with open standards.

I wish them all the luck and will seriously consider buying one if the project is successful (and the price is reasonable), but I'm extremely skeptical at the moment.
And they also need to come up with a better name, because Smach Z is terrible.
