Quoting: AkamanahFuck this devs. I will download from torrents.
Wrong attitude. If you have any interest in the game, even after all of the bullshit, then you need to buy it. Stealing it doesn't make you any better than the developers. There are actually a number of excellent RPGs available for Linux these days, so why not simply buy one of those instead?

Quoting: mr-eggI still think valve should of rolled their own Linux desktop distro and integrated it tightly with their own DE, compositor + apps and their steam client with two boot up menus, one for desktop and one for big picture.
They did. It's called SteamOS.

What a shocking turn of events!

Seriously, screw these guys. They have zero integrity and don't deserve our money or our support.

Sword Coast Legends RPG Released For Linux, Some Initial Thoughts

Quoting: Mountain ManWell, this all sounds rather disappointing. They name check Dragon Age: Origins in the advertising, so I was hoping for another in-depth sword and sorcery RPG with meaningful choices and consequences, but it seems to be a one dimensional action game. Apparently the game doesn't even support proper dialog trees.
The campaign does have branching dialogue and choices to make, though I'm not far enough in to be able to tell if the choices have meaningful consequences or if it's just window dressing ala The Walking Dead. It's the Dungeon Master tools for creating your own adventures that currently do not support branching dialogue.
Oh, O.K. I was under the impression that the game didn't support branching dialog at all.

I think I'll keep my eye on this one and see if the editing tools improve at all, but at the moment, I'm making my way through Wasteland 2: Director's Cut, and there's Pillars of Eternity which keeps kicking the crap out of me at every turn, so I really don't have time for another RPG at the moment.

Valve Rep Confirms Why Some Games Have Their SteamOS Icon Removed

Valve's explanation actually seems rather reasonable. If they're selling a Linux game through Steam then they want to ensure that it will work on any version of Linux that's running Steam, which means linking against the Steam libraries. I don't have a problem with that.

Be sure to opt in to the Steam client beta. I went to add this entry to my Kubuntu install and noticed that it was already there.

Valve Looks Like It's Removed The SteamOS Icon For Games That Work On Linux, But Not Perfectly On SteamOS

I agree with the idea of restoring the Tux icon to mean "desktop Linux only" while the SteamOS icon means "desktop Linux or SteamOS".

Steam Controller On Ubuntu, A Tweak You Need To Do

I thought this was an "early bird" release. It wasn't made entirely clear at the time that this is essentially "early access" for hardware. I'm not complaining because it's always fun to have a new toy to play with, and I'm confident Valve will get things sorted out, but I they could have curtailed a lot of the grumbling if they had been more clear about exactly what we were in for.
