Get a whole lot of classic Capcom games in this Humble Bundle

This was tempting until I looked at the Steam page for Street Fighter 6 and saw the game is not only infected with Deunuvo DRM, but it requires a Capcom account. Much less tempting.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach has a new trailer but no indication of a PC release yet

Death Stranding is my all time favorite game. I am eagerly looking forward to the sequel, but with a 2025 release date for PS5 means we probably won't see it on PC until at least 2026. Ugh!

Quoting: LinasThis time-limited licensing is such bullshit. Basically building a self-destruct timer into the product.
Copyright, patents, etc. are generally misused nowadays. They were intended for individual creators to get compensation and credit for their work, not for corporations to hoard, exploit and fatten their portfolios.
How does that work for films? Or rather: how can music licensing work for films with seemingly little to no hassle once a deal is struck, but is a gigantic and recurring pain for video games?

Or, are movie industry execs stuck in neverending meetings about licensing this song for Apocalypse Now, or that bit of stock footage?

Clearly, something needs (re-)regulating here.
There are different kinds of music licenses. The most expensive one grants rights in perpetuity, which is typically the license purchased by television and movie studios. Or they might cut a deal with the artist (or more likely the record label) to pay a small royalty on every sale.

While video games are popular, they do not generate anywhere near the revenue of a top movie or television studio, so game studios tend to have less clout when negotiating music licensing deals

This is the one misgiving I have about PC games being sold almost exclusively as digital release. It's too easy for someone to flip a switch and take them away.

I mean, if they are selling less, maybe they could try lowering prices.
Economics don't really work that way. If companies could increase profits by simply lowering prices, then everybody would do it.

The Pokémon Company confirm investigation into Palworld

Quoting: Talon1024There is already clear-cut solid evidence of plaigiarism [External Link] on the part of Pocketpair.

But since they made so much money from Palworld, one would hope they would use it to hire on a few more artists so that the Pokemon ripoff designs can be replaced with less infringing designs and models.
Those examples are pretty conclusive. It's the 3D modeling equivalent of copying a paragraph, changing a few words, and then passing it off as your own work. I suspect, at the very least, the Pal World developers will be forced to remove those critters from the game.

dude providing the evidence rescaled the models to fit.
Reason for doing it was he dislike animal abuse :)
So I can make what is effectively a carbon copy of another 3D modeler's work and call it my own as long as I scale my model up or down? That doesn't sound right, but perhaps I've misunderstood what you mean by "rescaled".

AYANEO NEXT LITE no longer ships with SteamOS-like HoloISO Linux - Windows 11 instead

...it seems AYANEO with the AYANEO NEXT LITE weren't convinced enough and so they've changed their minds.
I wonder how much Microsoft paid them?

It's good that they resolved it so quickly, but this should have never happened in the first place.

AYANEO NEXT LITE handheld announced with SteamOS Linux

Quoting: sonic2kkLinux was a great decision, but this is another handheld that missed the trackpads and handheld ergonomics that Valve have perfected on the Steam Deck.
Steam Deck's trackpads are good, but honestly most people just don't use them (because they don't know how good they are unfortunately). For these people this device can literally be Steam Deck Lite, because it certainly would be smaller in size. I know a few people who liked SteamOS, but don't like the size of Steam Deck. I love the track pads! I almost never touch the joysticks on my Steam Deck.
