Glad to see VP is still working on linux ports. People need to get over the whole early Witcher 2 thing. Their ports since then have been some of the best work we've seen from a porting company, performance wise.

Game developer revokes a user's Steam key after negative review

Quoting: WabbitSlayerA drm free store took all my games away. GOG. I did a creditcard chargeback on the virtual goods I purchased. GOG closed my account.
That sucks. However, I think the point is that if you had the games downloaded, you'd still 'own' them.

Out of curiosity, why did you do the chargeback?

Quoting: rkfgI participated in a closed beta test of one game, the dev sent the keys to activate the game on Steam. After the test and before the actual release they were revoked. I see this as a completely legit practice, they gave it for free and took it away later. There's no way for Steam to know if the key was paid for or just given away, maybe for a limited time so I don't see why this should be explicitly disabled for all developers. Of course, if it was a paid key that's been revoked just like this it's unacceptable but it's the first such case and it must be settled with Steam support and legal means. After all, that's not the only way the dev could scam the customers, they can ban them in-game using Steam IDs or remove the game for everybody (push empty depots or such). It's not possible to prevent this reliably.
I've had it happen three ways with beta testing. Sometimes the devs just give you full access to the final copy (Skullgirls and a couple of others). I've had one revoke the keys before they released which I was fine with. I actually felt a little guilty in that case because I hadn't done a whole lot of testing, one play session for an hour or so. I also have some cases where they just leave the beta in the steamdb and the full release is a different product id, so I still have access to the beta but not the full product.

Quoting: CybolicEDIT: I believe most of this was sorted out with the DRM systems in place for home medias (DVDs and BluRays); ie. you bought the thing, you have the right to modify it to make sure you can actually use it.
To this day, fuck the Bluray Consortium. Its their own friggin fault Kodi w/ shady plugins is such a big thing now.

Quoting: PikoloIt will be very interesting how Ashes of the Benchmark Vulkan performance compares between Linux and Windows. I've heard Stardock literally set the bar on performance optimizations in the Windows version of the game, so it should give us another interesting comparison between different Vulkan drivers.
I'm not sure what "Ashes of the Benchmark" means. I know that I tested AotS and it was one of the worst performing games I've ever seen. I had to play on the lowest settings in order to get playable frame rates. The game looked like some kind of badly done remaster of a decade old game. Just one explosion of a building resulted in single digit frame rate. It was awful. Did it get better?
I hadn't even heard mention of this game in at least a year. It used to be a benchmark queen but I never see it showing up in benchmarks these days.

Ark????? too late!
There’s a game called Aurora 4X...
Oh, maybe Far cry 5???
So you become a bird and just run/(fly?) around waiting for people to shoot you? Sounds fun, especially if your trigger button makes you squawk.

The Flock of Seagulls - I Ran (->Aurora Borealis aka Northern Lights) is dead on. Their Greatest Hits album is also "Aurora Borealis", so it could be tied in with a song on that album. I'd bet ol' lefty this is the path they're (somewhat obviously imo) leading us down for clues . . .

Skyrim is 50% off I think I saw in an email today. That's playing well with Proton isn't it? I might have to see what all the fuss is about.
