Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition is now officially out with day-1 Linux support

For those that don't know, the original Neverwinter Nights actually did have a Linux version, although it wasn't officially supported and needed some manual tinkering to get working properly,
Well, it was official enough to have the Tux logo on the game box. They did officially support it; the main limitation was that the editor was never made available.
Hmm maybe a later edition of the game had the tux logo. I don't remember that the original NWN release box art *didn't* have it, but I doubt it, since they talked up linux support up til falling silent 3-4 weeks prior to launch and then linux support was nowhere to be seen on launch day (sounds somewhat familiar these days).

I lost my $h!t all over the Bioware forums since I had preordered based on the supposed linux support until finally a nice user there offered to pay full price for my copy. It was about six months later that linux support launched, and it was kind of treated like a red-headed stepchild from Bioware. People like me probably soured them on ever considering linux support again, but damnit guys, communicate with your customers.

Quoting: dubigrasuTried to buy the game directly from their Beamdog client, but you end up buying from their site. Any idea if they track Linux sales this way?
They track linux usage after purchase, so no worries regarding getting counted as a linux sale.

Ah - it's that game, alright. Quite easy to feel a good deal of empathy for them of course.

But still... Do they make the engine from scratch too?
I'm pretty sure it's Unity underneath the hood.

Quoting: BeamboomLooks remarkably like a MMO from 2000. Could this be a mobile port?
It's a husband/wife team who have worked on some of the older heavy hitter MMOs. I played the alpha for a few hours a couple of months back and I actually had a fair amount of fun (probably more than I ever had with Albion for example).

Nearly six years after the Kickstarter, Stainless Games claim Carmageddon is still coming to Linux

Quoting: ElectricPrismAnyone who wants to play the old version could give it a go on GOG for free today.

TDR kind of sucked compared to the version prior to that. Carmageddon 2 I think?

The MMO 'Project: Gorgon' has an experimental Linux version, it's not bad at all & free for now

I gave it a go and it's more polished than I would have thought for an alpha. I played for over 3 hours when my original intention was just to hop in and have a look around, so yeah, it's got that part of MMO gameplay right already. The graphics are highly adjustable (it's Unity underneath) so you can make it look pretty decent, though I'm annoyed that it doesn't seem like you can disable motion blur.

The writing is a little tongue-in-cheek; original fantasy that pokes fun at itself a little bit. I came out of my play session with way higher hopes for the game that I had going into it.

Here's another way to look at the Linux market share on Steam

Quoting: stretch611I have not done much with steamcharts... is there a way to show total number of linux users? Or does valve consider that proprietary?
Valve does sometimes comment on the number of total users they have. So you could extrapolate a fairly decent estimate based off of that.

They don't pay for software on the whole which is why MS offer Windows for free in china so it does skew the numbers.
Free vs free and I'll still go with linux for every situation. I'm not sure how much they would even have to pay me to use windows. I guess my work sort of does that.

From what I've read most of this influx over the past year are PUBG bot accounts. What I find hilarious is that if PUBG had a linux version that ran equal to or better than the windows version linux would be sitting at about 50% share on Steam right now.
