Stellaris is a true paradox game : it's a good game for now, but the huge amount of DLC will turns it in an awesome game... I truely believe they didn't added everything they wanted to their games to begin with ; these DLCs are a strategy to renew players interest for the game...

I never managed to play it again after the messy release of Snowfall... I lost my city and I'm too lazy to start a new one...

Shadow Warrior 2 has another new gameplay video if you didn't see it already

That's what I call an authentic FPS! Like in the old days, fast paced, fun as hell, bloody and with LEVELS! It's a modern Doom-like in all its glory! Shadow Warrior one was a great game, I was extremly surprised by how good it is, now I hope the second one will be even better!

No Man's Sky has been shown to work rather well in Wine on Linux

I really like Wine since it allows me to play some games I bought when there was almost no game for Linux, like Mass Effect 1 and 2, Fallout 3 and New Vegas etc. Five years ago, if you were a gamer, Windows was mandatory (and yes, I played a lot of Wesnoth, OpenTTD, UFO Alien Invasion and Oolite, but the list of good linux (almost all of them Open Sources) games was (and for open source still is) quite short... Plus there was a lot of unfinished games (and again, there still is), like Unknow Horizons, 0 A.D, FreeOrion (now we have Stellaris, Starsector and even the new Master of Orion... so shall we see a final release for this one?).

But still, the best "core" linux game from old days was ASCII Sector! (ok I'm a space game fanatic).

For now I believe Rimworld and the modded version of Spacebase DF9 seem to be far ahead...

The game is now working on linux. There is a lot of issues, but none related to the linux port, everyone is having the same problems, that is : fast travel is crashing the ship (and sometimes the game), autopilot is completly lost and some other minor bugs.

For now I believe Paragon is the pretiest Pionneer fork (the game looks really good, it's not realistic but it has style), but Pionneer Scout Plus is still the most playable one.

What have you been playing on Linux recently and what do you think about it?

I'm playing X Rebirth (but I've been playing X series games for years), some Pionneer Scout Plus (it's a mod for Pionneer - Frontier Elite remake), Stellaris of course, some Shadow Warrior and a LOT of Rimworld (ok ok, I'm a space person...)!. I also always have a platform/puzzle game installed for when I haven't much time for serious gaming ; I recently finished Steam Dig and Escape Goat, I've installed Teslagrad but haven't start it yet...

When the first version of Alpha 12 came out they had problems with libs and symbolic links ; I managed to replace all the missing libs, but than I had a "creating context for OpenGL 2.1" error. Now, with the final release of Alpha 12, they solved the missing libs issues, but not the OpenGL one.

I'm no expert but I've already seen an indie dev looking for help to solve this issue and I believe it isn't so hard to fix, so if someone know how to do it I believe they could use some help.

As for the game itself, it was apparently abandoned for the past half year or so, then a single dev start to post some stuffs on Steam and reddit about 3 months ago. I wasn't very confident anymore that they were still working on the game... That said, the game is promising : it's a fork of Pioneer (who is a remake of Frontier Elite) but set in a distopian universe where cold war never ended. The game has a unique "future-past" art and feeling (I don't know if we say that in English) that is truly awesome! Hope they manage to go on with the project (and the linux version of course), but for now I'm still a little bit skeptical because there is still a lot of work to do and they seem to be just 2 devs...
