KDE Plasma continues improving to stop you breaking things
7 Feb 2022 at 5:32 pm UTC

Quoting: areamanplaysgameI keep giving KDE another chance every few months, but it's just never been a good experience for me. I love a lot of the KDE ecosystem, but for some reason basic stuff that just works in GNOME, like pairing a Bluetooth gamepad or, like, playing audio in Firefox, does not work in KDE on the same machine for no reason I can easily discern. And then, when I go back to GNOME, I have to spend extra time fixing the stuff KDE broke that it shouldn't have been able to break.
As mentioned above, you cannot judge KDE if you installed it over top of a default Gnome setup. This is true the other way around, too.

Quoting: syylkI still have Muon around for package management on my KDE system. Discover is nice, don't get me wrong, but it's not as flexible as good old Muon.
I still use Synaptic, even though it is a relic now. I don't like all the dependencies being hidden from me, but I understand it would be confusing for new users.

Quoting: fagnerlnLOL. Yeah, the price of those devices are uninviting.
I dunno. If the build quality is good, the price seems fair for what they are packing into it.

Maui Shell seems like a very interesting KDE graphical environment

Looks very nice. I am glad more teams are building using the base KDE tech. It is very versatile.

Plasma works well for me and I like the detailed control, so I am not sure if Maui is aimed at me, but there is probably a good market for an easy-to-use alternative that doesn't bombard the user with so many options.

As it wasn't mentioned in the article, I had to look up what PE was. For anyone else in the same situation:

I enjoyed the first (free) game. I shy away from rogue-stuff, but might have to try this...

Valve launches Deck Verified, to show off what games will work well on the Steam Deck

I have no interest in buying a portable game device. This thing is not for me at all.

However, Valve is doing everything right here. I am very impressed with the Deck and its roll-out. I sure hope it helps improve Linux gaming in general.

That is genuinely hilarious. They obviously put a lot of work into all those animations.

Quoting: IamsodarncoolI'm very excited about the release.
Looks very cool. I love games that push the boundaries of how we think about the world. I would have never thought about building logic circuits in 3D. I hope people find lots of creative and surprising ways to use the game.

Amazing visuals and I love everything that Ethan Lee has ported. However, I am still confused even after watching the trailer video.

I might have to pick it up anyway!
