For anyone who has played this, I am wondering about the style? Is it a metroidvania (like recent Iconoclasts) or more just puzzle-platformer (like Blackhole). It gets harder and harder to figure out what to expect.
If it only puzzles, like Super Meat Boy, I start to get bored after a while. I like a broader world to tie it all together. Even things like You Have to Win the Game and Super Win the Game have enough context to make it all hold together and feel more than just a slog through one puzzle screen after another.

Quoting: ShmerlOne proposal - may be remove March 2017 from the stats, so graphs will start from April 2017 and there wouldn't be such curve there, caused by the start from 0 (I'm talking about trends page).Yesh, the the sudden jump start annoys me a little but I suspect Liam is trying to automate everything, so that might be awkward for him to implement.

I rarely buy games on release day but, Liam, your review made me grab it right away. I agree with everything you said.
If anyone liked Owlboy, this is 100 times better. A good story and very tight gameplay. Good level design - lots of places to go but not so large as to get completely lost. Animation is smooth, combat good, and platforming feels entirely fair.

Quoting: linuxvangogAnd the Linux port is extremely high quality! Definitely recommended :)I agree. I bought the GOG version and it has run flawlessly so far. I am using my steam controller by launching the game through the steam "add other game" feature. Runs perfectly with X360 controller settings.

Quoting: EikeThis is actually one of the very few instances (could count with one hand and still have some fingers free) were I might preorder. No reason not to trust in technical quality and entertainment value of their games!Yes, I have enjoyed all their games. A very twisted sense of humor.

BTW, I am very excited to play Part 2 of The Fall when it comes out. Glad to see it has a release date now!

Quoting: CheesenessI can't speak for InnerSpace, but from the projects I've been involved with/other developers I've talked to, it's really not. Thanks for the insight. Good to have a little understanding for what goes on in the background.

Just finished the game and really enjoyed it. Took my time and got all the achievements so it took about 11 hours. Some of the main story puzzles took a while to search out, but the relics mostly weren't too hard.
I saw a comment by one of the devs saying that Shadow of the Colossus was a partial inspiration and I can really see that. A non-combat flying version in an inside-out world, but the feel is somewhat similar. Glad to support it at full price. A really nice world to fly around in and discover.
PS (I still don't have access to the DRM-free version on Humble)

Quoting: Aspyr_BlairGOG turned it down :(As others have said, that is really strange. Considering you managed to release it on so many platforms on day 1, your team pulled off a miracle. If Nintendo, MS and Sony all wanted it on their consoles, why wouldn't GOG think it was worthy?
PS (I still don't have access to the DRM-free version on Humble)

On topic: I still think it is a great game!

Quoting: CheesenessRegarding DRM free builds, they're already up (seems like they went live on the same day as the game launched, but were pushed live later than other storefronts - this seemed implied in the last Kickstarter update and is understandable since Humble's workflow for uploading stuff is kinda lacking). It is great that the builds are somewhere in the system, but it still isn't showing for me. I will wait for Humble support to figure it out.

Having now played it (via Steam) for a couple hours, I can say I really like it. I get vertigo in some games, but surprisingly the visuals don't give me any problems. I can see it won't be perfect for everyone, though.
Regarding DRM, I have a large Steam library, but like to also have DRM-free backups of my purchases. It is not about spyware, it is about whether I will still have access to my games if there is a corporate change with Valve. Some of you may not be old enough to have seen the vast graveyards of unsupported hardware and software.
I also like to support devs that treat their customers with respect.

Quoting: ShmerlMay be support can help with it? They should not advertise what they don't have.I have filed a support ticket with Humble. If the devs wanted to get it on GOG, I can't imagine that they have a problem releasing it on Humble. It is probably just teething pains with a new release.

Looks like it has potential. So much depends on balanced gameplay, though. I will have to wait for reviews.

I bought Pictopix before Christmas and really enjoyed it. I had a mouse issue and the dev was really fast to work with me to fix the game. Quite impressed.
I will have to fire it up again, now that there are more levels!
