Quoting: ShmerlAnyway, since Humble are selling it DRM-free, I can buy it there.I just bought it on the Humble store (even though they kill me on exchange compared to Steam), but it is not showing up as a DRM-free download. Sigh.

Thanks for the article Hamish. I always enjoy your writing.
A minor grammar question: "...such as this one ran by the fan website Quaddicted." The use of "ran" here doesn't look quite right?
Thanks also to everyone else for the interesting additional info!

Turns out Linux market share on Steam did not go back up in December

The other thing is that it was designed as a hardware survey. I am sure that the Steam client reports the OS to Valve at each login. There is no need for a survey. If they wanted, Valve could show live OS stats just like they do for concurrent users.
As I said, we should just ignore this "random" survey garbage.

Quoting: rat2000Isn't the methodology the survey that we participate at random times? I think it just checks then the OS Steam is running on and that's it.No, just because you randomly fill out a survey doesn't mean you know what Valve is doing with it. In science, it would be laughed at until they submitted their methods to peer review.

Not everyone may like it, but it would be a lot more transparent than what we have now.

Quoting: ElectricPrismCan someone please release a stat program on github that records stats once a month and we will make it a dependency of all steam installs.I like that idea.

Until it starts showing above 5% (or Valve releases its methodology) I think we can safely ignore the whole thing.

Quoting: ShmerlI don't think this Steam survey is particularly news worthy.Yeah. I know it generates a lot of hype in the twitterverse, but the thing is completely useless considering it has unknown statistical accuracy.

The Talos Principle going Fusion, Croteam dropping OpenGL & Serious Sam 4 still coming

There is probably more in the Talos world they could build on, but I also wouldn't mind a different setting if they keep up the good writing and excellent puzzle design.
I didn't think that anything could come close to Portal 2 in that kind of game, but Talos did for me. Not everyone's style though, I understand.

Quoting: callciferWhile more Serious Sam is always a good thing, what I'm really waiting for is Talos Principle 2. It was my personal GOTY 2014.I agree with you on that!
