F1 2017 system requirements for the Linux port have been revealed, NVIDIA & AMD supported

Just to agree with other posters here:

1) There is no way I will run anything but LTS releases. My machines are production tools, not hobby toys. I am too old and busy now to screw around with re-installing my OS every 6 months. Been there, done that.

2) There is no way I will ever install drivers from anything but a semi-official PPA. It is great that the Ubuntu graphics-drivers ppa exists. I have used the Nvidia web download in the past; See above comment about life being short. My spare time is for playing games, not periodically rescuing my operating system.

All that said, I am patient so I will just wait until the next LTS comes out and the PPA drivers catch up. By then there will be a steam sale. Not sure that is what Feral would want, though? People waiting isn't good for business.

Edit: Just to note, the graphics driver ppa does seem to be at 384.90 so it meets the specs. I was just responding to the casual suggestion to use the NVidia website.

Hollow Knight’s new free content pack arrives on Linux
31 Oct 2017 at 11:30 pm UTC

I love this game! Can't wait to see what the third update will bring.

Quoting: scaineYeah, I gave up on this title to be honest.
That is too bad. I have over 70 hours clocked and I haven't even gone back to play the updates yet. Once I got used to the save point and map system, it didn't bother me anymore. I could see it might punish the impatient, though.

I did hear they adjusted the fast-travel system with one of the updates, but I haven't gone back to try it yet.

Salt & Sanctuary is another absolutely brilliant game, but Hollow Knight stands right beside it in terms of quality story and gameplay.

THQ Nordic is bringing Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy to Linux

Hey, I played this on my old Xbox! Although it had a few quirks, I really liked it. Kind of a mix of 3rd person puzzle/platforming with a smattering of action & story.

I hope this works out. I think the game was really underrated when it came out.

Looks fun. I have one major complaint, though. Goats are not for shooting. Goats are cool.

Won't buy :-(

Figment, a beautiful and musical action-adventure game is now available on Linux

I was wondering about this one. Thanks for the quick review!

SEUM: Speedrunners from Hell adds 33 new levels in 'The Drunk Side of the Moon' DLC
24 Oct 2017 at 9:07 am UTC

I just picked up the base game yesterday and am really enjoying it. Strange thing with the Steam Controller, though: The "right mouse button" (bound to left trigger) does a forced auto-center for the view, so it makes levitating and teleporting almost impossible. Mouse works fine, but I like to kick back using a controller when playing most games.

Anyone else have this?

Open your wallets, there's some great Linux games on sale right now

Can anyone advise whether any DLC for GRID is worth buying? It never seems to get as deep a sale as the main game.

Edit: I forgot to say that I don't own the game yet. I was waiting to see if they would do a good bundle.

The latest Steam Hardware Survey shows Linux market-share has declined again

Quoting: ShmerlI think people should stop paying attention to Steam survey. Its usefulness is close to zero.
I agree. Until Valve releases the actual statistical methodology, we are arguing over pseudoscience.

If it wasn't such a tired meme, I would shout "fake news." We really know nothing of any substance about how the survey works. We might as well read tea-leaves instead.

Some thoughts on Pankapu, a 2D action-platformer with metroidvania elements

Hmm. I like platformers and the art style is nice so I picked it up for a decent price. Initial thoughts after half an hour:

- Art is beautiful. It reminds me of Dust, complete with sidekick for exposition.

- Controls are OK. Defaults to xbox style and the steam controller works fine. For a recent comparison, it is not quite as tight as Steamworld Dig 2, but serviceable.

- Camera and view area is not quite right. Certainly playable, but sometimes the view is too zoomed in, or stuck too high for the area you are playing in. The camera also follows play in a way that makes the view area jump too much.

- Story and voice work is decent. Nothing revolutionary, but it carries the game so far.

Overall, it seems like it has a lot of promise. It seems a little unpolished, with some rough spots. Hopefully the devs keep refining the game!
