Editorial: On paying for Linux games when you already have a Windows version

I really do get all of your points! Still I think cross-platform-access is a unique point of sale. Therefor either the publishers or Valve should make sure there will be ways to solve the issue. It should only be a problem for the next few years to come since most of the people will be buying only games on Linux after they made the switch. Still I do hope cross-platform-access will be available for those.

I'm afraid you are not! I almost never buy any early access titles. For some good reason: I would like to play a ready made game and not a buggy one. Being bored by a game when it reaches the real final release is not a thing I so prefer.

If a game is in a really good condition but is still being maintained I'm happy to play it! I don't mind new content as well as occasional bug fixes as long as the game is in a pretty good shape. (:

A developer from Feral Interactive has sent in yet another Mesa patch for the 'radv' Vulkan driver

Thanks Alex! Thanks Feral! It's really nice to see that all kind of companies are participating in improving Mesa/radv nowadays. Go Go Go!

Quoting: libgradevBarring the fab that makes the parts burning down, mine will (Ryzen + Vega).

Amazing isn't it: moved to Linux a few years ago, wouldn't touch an AMD card (I actually had one and the support was so bad I grabbed a GTX670 after a couple of months) - now I can't see myself buying another NVidia card again...

Turnabout eh?
The exactly same happened to me! I bought an HD5850 in the past but after switching to Linux I was very unhappy considering the performance, integration into the Kernel, bugs etc - fglrx just sucked. Therefore I bought a GTX 560ti which was ment to be slower - under Linux it performed much better, thanks to the driver.

Now im very happy with my RX 480 since I could max out almost everything. "Deus Ex Mankind Devided" excluded. (;

Caveman Warriors, a surprisingly good 1-4 player action platformer needs help on Kickstarter

Made my day! :-D

OBS Studio livestreaming and recording application updated, plenty of bug fixes

I'm still waiting for AMD VCE hardware encoding support. While this is already working with vaapi and libx264 it's still considered to be a hack due to the fact there's no official support for it by AMD. :'(

The Mesa GLSL shader cache is now enabled by default

I would also be interested in if the loading time of Trine 2 and Trine 3 will decrease. The game keeps in loafing for a very long time.

Looks like the experimental Linux version of Arma 3 will get the 64bit treatment

They should have done it from the very beginning as most studios/publishers. If they could benefit at least a little bit they might consider cross platform developing for future games.

I finally completed Half-Life 2 on Linux and it was quite the experience

Is Black Mesa a viable alternative? I'm not sure if I feel like playing a 13 years old game. If you've played those games from the very beginning it's not a problem.

NVIDIA have announced the 1080 Ti and it's a beast

Actually the 1080 will drop in price if the 1080ti succeeds and if Vega is competitive.
