Quoting: GuestMaybe while they're working on Linux drivers, they could add Surround support so that I can game on three monitors.Ask Jake about it, he routinely plays on triple screen, ex: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujf-g0JGE2I [External Link]

@g000h
I do my best to support Linux gaming, even by buying titles that I have no desire to play whatsoever (such as strategy titles from Feral) and I'd say that 99% of my gaming is done on Linux, with Linux games.
But please don't ask me to retreat in some Linux iron fortress shunning away all the good games out there just because they have no Linux ports.
If there is a wonderful/awesome game that I desire badly to play, I will play it whatever the platform is on. I am a Linux user yes, but I'm also a gamer and I don't want to feel guilty about that.

Quoting: GuestThe benchmark values are really looking bad.Different hardware/system, and likely different track used for benchmark. My guess is Liam used the default Melbourne track, while in video is the Silverstone one.
But if you take a look at the video comparision here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojKC5kXopCs [External Link]
it looks much better for Linux, roughly 10% difference.
Note sure why the results differ that much.

While I do appreciate the enhanced textures I am still not sold on the new aesthetic that the BFG Edition creates, with the darker lighting from the original game in particular looking far better than the brighter world included with the BFG Edtion. Further many of the game features themselves have been altered or badly cut resulting in a game that is far less interesting to play.Can you elaborate a bit on that?
Thanks

OK, probably someone will slap me on the wrist for saying this...but I have this nagging feeling that Gordon is wasting his talents lately (when porting games is concerned).
He is too good to not use his immense experience on titles with bigger impact, just saying, don't kill me.

Quoting: GuestDisappointing then, I had hopes for it (for developers use that is) since it was presented at Steam dev days and developed IIRC by Rich Geldreich. Too bad it went nowhere...Quoting: dubigrasuAll of the above, not to mention it was nigh-on impossible to build. We had to get Valve to send us binaries. Most of the time any traces we tried to get either became too large, or simply crashed VOGL/the driver when attempting to play them back.Quoting: GuestJust hope it doesnt go the same way as VOGL, which turned out to be uselessWhat's the problem with it, too limited/buggy/etc or the lack of maintenance?
