Quoting: Linux_RocksMan, Quake II RTX has native Linux support. Why can't this or Portal? Half-Life 2 and Portal already have native Linux versions. I don't know how modding works internally. But doesn't that automatically help make it possible? </3

Because it is using RTX-remix, it's not being done in source code.

i love this game. But the static bodies of water is just... weird and unnatural. It makes all the planets that may have a similar composition to earth feel completely lifeless.

Don’t even get me started on the people trying to claim things were good pre-Steam 🤣

Come now... We had Doom 1+2+3 and Quake 1+2+3+4. Linux gaming was great!

There's a huge amount of value-add in this. And yes all models were updated from the old vertex animations to skeletal animation - which removes the vertex-jumping you used to see.

Voxel Doom II releasing August 1st

Voxels are the perfect way to enhance older sprite based games.

But.... I also wonder what effect raytracing could have too.
Quoting: axredneckI don't thing these sector-based games will look good with ray tracing

Pretty sure it'd be fine with engines that convert the maps to full 3d polygonal environments. But yeah I guess lighting would need some thought since a sector doesn't translate to distance very well and there isn't much in the way of objects that could be used as light sources.

Maybe we should start saying they dropped Native Steam Deck support instead.

Quoting: NezchanIf the dev went back and overhauled it the way the No Man's Sky devs did? I'd still be willing to give it a chance, after all this time. But it'll take a little more than what this update has to offer.

The dev struggles with money flow in many cases - I'd be very surprised if they could do what the NMS team managed.

Big new Stable Update for Steam Deck and Desktop Steam

Quoting: Mohandevir"The new BigPicture mode has been made the default one"

Meaning it's now the Steam Deck UI for desktop users too?
Yes. So when you click Big Picture Mode, even on Desktop, it uses the UI from Steam Deck now too. Sadly, for NVIDIA users on Linux, it's quite poor right now due to low performance.

It's terrible even on Intel. Feels really half-arsed.
