If y'all like this then maybe BallisticNG ticks a few boxes? https://store.steampowered.com/app/473770/BallisticNG/

And fuck the "boomer <genre>" term.

KDE Plasma 6.1 will be able to sync keyboard RGB to your chosen accent colour
8 April 2024 at 9:38 am UTC

*sighs*... it's a nice attempt but multi-rgb is *not* well suited for many RGB keyboards. It's really only good for single zoned, and has no capabilities for modes.

The music idea is also likely out as it's dependant on how the vendors expose the api for writing to rgb..

The kernel desperately needs a better API for multi-RGB. And from what I've seen it might end up following the Microsoft version of it (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/uwp/api/windows.devices.lights.lamparray?view=winrt-22621)

Ubuntu 24.04 increases vm.max_map_count for smoother Linux gaming

Keep seeing "KDE is crashy" around. KDE 6 has honestly been pretty rock solid for me since I started running Fedora 40 (just after it forked from rawhide).

Explicit Sync Wayland Protocol Merged, Wayland Protocols 1.34 released

Just to add a tidbit more info to the above:

The graphics stack in Linux was designed around openGL, which is inherently implicit sync. At the time the entire openGL spec was single threaded state machine and so the sync was implicit from that. Later came threaded openGL, but the state-machine design stayed.

So the reality is we have a ton of very slow moving legacy to deal with.

Open-source Vulkan driver for NVIDIA hardware in Mesa, NVK, is now ready for prime time

I really really do not understand the nvidia hate. It's frankly fucking ridiculous at times.

Nevertheless, hurrah for NVK and Faith. The experience when I tested it a few weeks ago was actually very good and I could run quite a few games. However I do wonder how ray tracing will shape up...

The future has arrived - KDE Plasma 6 desktop released

The biggest thing about KDE 6 for me is that nvidia outputs on a hybrid laptop are now really really smooth. I've been running KDE 6 for a month on fedora and I've only got positive things to say (so much that it got me off of gnome)

Okay boomers, you get a shooter category on Steam now

Should have called them "Doom clones" like they were actually called in the 90s. Fucking hate that "boomer shooter" term.

MSI teasing a handheld gaming PC like the Steam Deck

Quoting: TruckStopSantaClausWondering when (if ever) one of these things will come with they're own Linux OS, Windows just seems like a bad fit for handhelds. Would love to see a new handheld come with something tailor made for it running inside.

Valve are open to helping OEM's support SteamOS, but I suspect that the OEMs want it to be more of a one-way street with Valve doing all the work.

Windows is a flatout fucking terrible OS for handhelds - try getting through all the numerous reboots, privacy garbage, other setup screens etc.
