Linux Mint planning an upgraded EDGE ISO with kernel 6.5

They're going to find it harder and harder to keep using ancient shit as a base. It's fucking ridiculous that they used such an old kernel for so long in the first place.

And 6.5 kernel is EOL https://endoflife.date/linux

If there is no running water I'm going to be pissed.

Static water bodies feel so damned lifeless in NMS - needs waterfalls and rivers.

Back then, Uplink impressed me to no end and made me really exited for the full game, but it still didn´t prepare me for the real impact of Half-Life. I´ve been gaming since the mid 80s starting with C64 and NES and I´ve seen some games do a sudden leap into the next generation of gaming, but Half-Life felt like it skipped a whole generation just like that.

I'll never forget the very first time on the train. Everything around me just tuned right out.

And then internet cafes started springing up mostly centered around Counterstrike tournaments

No. That is nothing. It's what they need so that mods can be ported over to get any content, so they had no choice.

I don't know what your point is then. You say they gave nothing back - except they did.

Quoting: Talon1024I was a bit miffed about the Nightdive remasters of Quake and Quake 2 because they gave nothing back to the Open Source Quake/Quake 2 engine projects. Thankfully, this doesn't seem to be the case for their Dark Forces remaster:

QuoteNight Dive will also be helping me to support the new content they are creating in TFE - though you will be required to purchase the new version of Dark Forces in order to use that content.

That's not true. They pushed to put all the new Quake 2 game sources under GPL to ensure that other engines can use it, and wrote extensive docs.

NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 and Half-Life 2 RTX announced

Quoting: Linux_RocksMan, Quake II RTX has native Linux support. Why can't this or Portal? Half-Life 2 and Portal already have native Linux versions. I don't know how modding works internally. But doesn't that automatically help make it possible? </3

Because it is using RTX-remix, it's not being done in source code.
