Great game that, very replayable and good for casual games between classes too
Black Mesa developer shoots down anti-Linux troll, confirms Linux version is in progress

My problem with that is a multitude of "ifs".
If we don't ask, we don't show interest.
If we don't show interest, what's the likelihood of a port.
If we did just "shut up and use Windows" then what the hell is the point in Linux in the first place.
It's akin to "everybody drives a car, you should too. Don't bother with a train or bus".

Quoting: Shutup-FoolTroll or not, this is a nice way to start a witch hunt...The problem is the amount of time and energy he puts in to doing this. Quite seriously,it's almost every Linux thread that he pops up in to in some way say "don't bother asking for a Linux port, just use Windows".
I've read some of meraco's posts, and I don't see anything to suggest that he/she is a troll. It seems like nowadays people are classified as trolls just because they have a different opinion. And to those claiming this is some anti-linux, MS evangelist, this is one of his posts from that thread:

Quoting: liamdaweYeah this was one of the few games Valve dropped the SteamOS icon for as it doesn't work OOTB on SteamOS but works fine on Linux desktop. Now that, is going to get annoying fast.

It frustrates me that people persist with coding actual desktop applications in JS. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. I don't want to have to install npm/node.js and a bunch of it's dependencies.
Apparently desktop Linux marketshare has finally hit that elusive 2% mark

Quoting: dmantioneWow, I didn't expect that considering that we were well below 2% in the last months. But many people are considering to switch to Linux at the moment, now that Microsoft is increasing pressure with Windows 10 updates. Computer magazines also had specials about switching to Linux.Yep, there's a "general" computing mag in Australia, which is also the biggest one, which regularly runs Linux articles and ships with a Linux distro on the DVD (APC Mag).
If this is responsible for the rise, it is likely that some of these people will reboot to Windows again. But some will stay on Linux, so it's good.
Also the W3Schools statistics pages show Linux at the highest share ever:

The one thing that irks me with the demo?
The damned pipe-swinging animation. Nobody but nobody swings a pipe like that!

We might see it after the PlayStation 7 version is released.

Quoting: tripyOh man, please don't remind us of Carmageddon. That is exactly how it seems to have been handled.Quoting: mrboeseMy crystal ball says: Will be as always. First the developer promises a Linux version, then is completely surprised that - who thought of THIS - people actually want a Linux version. It smells like Carmageddon. Still burned deep by that one.
Promises Linux version 1 week after release; But no - it's postponed -XBOX One+ Playstation + Android + Wii U + Windows 10 App versions are more important; After 1 year there'll be a Linux version with ~40% performance loss; Some time after Linux release, the developer will complain that Linux sales are crappy (Who thought that ~1% of users can actually only be expected to contribute ~1% of sales!!1!!!), Ubuntu always crashes and there will be never a Linux version again.
TLDR: I believe it when I see it.
I'll join the "waiting for the release to be here" train.
I've got more than enough good games waiting for me to play with them anyway.
We might see it after the PlayStation 7 version is released.

I really, really wish that dev/publishers would drop the "PC/Mac/Linux thing and start using Windows/OSX(MacOS)/Linux instead.

Quoting: GuestPeople still supporting a mish-mash of 64 and 32 bit programs are annoying the shit out of me. It's impossible to install and use a pure 64bit distro and still have most games runQuoting: linuxgamerYeah, seriously. Everyone who's still using x86 should re-evaluate their life choices right now.Quoting: AkamanahGlad to see adequate developers who still support x86.Totally disagree. 32bit belongs to the last century.
