Quoting: ripperSince when is Unreal Tournament an open source game?
The confusion might come in because technically the source is available for the engine, but yeah it's definitely not Freely licensed.

Random idea: What if there were a tasteful set badges or something that could be shared with Colossal Order and others? It would help these games and this site get recognition at the same time.

Carmageddon: Reincarnation still aiming for a Linux version

I guess the lesson here is that if a developer lists Linux support as a stretch goal, expect the deadline to be stretched as well.

It's funny how 5 DEs have an almost identical share
A testament to a healthy, diverse set of interfaces competing with eachother. The same can't be said for the distributions category which appears to be Debian/Arch dominated.
Except when you factor in the fact that a number of these DEs are based on GNOME. When you do so, you find that nearly 50% of the DE share consists of GNOME-based environments. When you also consider how non-GNOME based systems like Xfce are nevertheless using Gtk, it becomes clear that the overwhelming majority of people are using Gtk over Qt.

Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition Delayed For Linux, Again

"It's something I'm really sorry about - we offered refunds because we knew it was going to take time once we decided on going for D:OS EE, but I still think it was the right one as the end result will be much better."

If this is true and they offered refunds, then I think that settles it. Be wary of supporting them in the future, perhaps, but if everyone who supported this project--who did so because they promised Linux support--took advantage of this offer and got their refunds, then that's the best way to show some consequences to the studio. If it turns out to be a sizeable enough of a hit to their funding, they may reconsider reneging on promises in the future. As long as they continue to offer refunds I think it's fair all the way around.

The first is alt+tab support, of which on Ubuntu it has none.
That's one thing I really like about the Steam client. I use it for non-Steam games just so I can shift+tab with the overlay and then alt+tab on games that don't otherwise support it. For an ongoing project, it's definitely something that should be corrected with the game itself, but using the overlay is a nifty hack for older fullscreen games that might not even be supported anymore.

Wine 1.8-rc2 released, brings more stability

Quoting: mironice to see these efforts, but hopefully wine will become obsolete one day. I have not been using it for months, lots of games and stuff runs natively by now - let's keep continuing that.
I doubt WINE will ever truly become obsolete. Bear in mind, WINE is made to do more than just play games. Games are not its only purpose.
Well, unless MS Windows becomes obsolete and/or goes open source. Even then it wouldn't mean that WINE would become obsolete; it just would require a lot less active development to be maintained. It's probably not likely to happen any time soon, but with MS mimicking Google in order to compete (Bing, Windows Mobile, etc.), turning their flagship OS into a Free Software project to support a distributed ad platform might not be out of the picture. Considering the recent release of the "Code" IDE on Github (including a version for GNU/Linux) it wouldn't be the first time MS has flirted with FOSS.

Quoting: FredOThe Talos Principle: Road To Gehenna. (Just finished - really good DLC)
Chaos Reborn.
Dungeon Defenders.
Alien Isolation.
The Talos Principle is seriously one of the best games of all time for me. I loved the Road to Gehenna DLC as well, and I would fund kickstarters for a whole series of these games if Croteam ever decided to do that. The Talos Principle is the reason I went back and bought The Swapper and recently I've read the guy they got to write for that game they're getting to help out with Serious Sam 4. I have no idea how that's going to work out given the very different tone of the Serious Sam series, but I'm intrigued nonetheless.

Recently I've played through Trine 3 and I've been making my way through The Swapper. More than anything though, I've been spending a lot of time playing Cities: Skylines. I purchased a license on Steam at the beginning of this month, and I've already spent 58 hours playing it. I now have a city with a population of over 100,000. I put it up on the workshop so I can explore it in first person multiplayer, but curiously enough people are subscribing to it for some reason.

Other than that in the past day or two I've revisited Tabletop Simulator as well and I check in with Descent: Underground to check out new features in the Alpha build as they come out.

Sword Coast Legends Campaign Review

Personally I could live with some liberal ruleset interpretation. My main gripe is the hyped up DM "mode" and editor which--from what I've read and seen on YouTube--are nowhere in the same league of control and customizability that was afforded in ye olde NWN. "Spiritual successor" this is not, and that's very disappointing.
