Wait what? Wasn't this last week? Is this a time anomaly?

Psebay, an atmospheric moto trial adventure is coming to Linux

This appears to have more 'realistic' physics than xmoto, though. I remember the bike in the latter to be a bit too floaty.

I've really liked this type of game since Motocross Maniacs on the Game Boy; so this looks very interesting. (... and I also wish Trials Fusion worked on proton.)

VK9, the project that aims to support Direct3D 9 over Vulkan has hit another milestone

As already mentioned, loads of Triple AiAiAi (hat tip to Jim Sterling) games run on dx9, even those that came out after dx10 became available. Assassin's Creed 1 has a dx10 mode and a dx9 fallback; but the next 3 games in the series are all dx9. GTA IV + its expansion packs are also dx9.

Quoting: hardpenguinHow very un-Debian-like :P
... not to mention that it's not open source.

The GOG winter sale is officially here, with plenty of Linux games and a giveaway

Quoting: SalvatosI've had Shadowrun Returns on Steam for about 5 months but GOG Connect says it's unavailable. Does anyone know if I need to have played it for it to get picked up? I haven't touched it yet.
I had the same experience (hadn't touched Shadowrun Returns, etc.) -- then, on Steam, I clicked on install, and refreshed the GOG connect page; only then did it recognize the game.

Getting Full Throttle free was a nice surprise. I remember finishing it in one sitting on a friend's computer back when it first came out. (It was a Pentium 90 which I envied thoroughly. I think my own machine was a 486DX4-100 at the time.)

There's a brand new Steam Play Beta version out with FAudio, also a Steam Play whitelist update

Quoting: mrdeathjrIn my case use 415.18.04 and vulkan stay on 1.1.92
^_^
Thanks; the problem *might* be the version of Vulkan that I have on Fedora. (vulkan-loader is on 1.1.92; but vulkan-tools are on 1.1.82; vulkaninfo (part of vulkan-tools) shows '1.1.82' to be the version. I'll look into this some other time.)

Quoting: legluondunetWorks very well here in directx10 mode with DXVK. Are you using the last Proton beta? Are you using the correct Nvidia drivers? (or MESA if you own an AMD GPU, see requirements here: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/wiki/Requirements) [External Link]
First thing to do: uninstall and reinstall the game.
Latest proton beta & latest stable nvidia drivers (415.22). The dx10 executable launches, plays the intro video, then the screen goes blank on the intro menu screen (sounds still playing). All I can do is to kill -9 it.

Valve have some serious competition, with the Epic Games Store being announced

This was just recommended to me on youtube, by the way:

Fishy stuff with the Epic games launcher, apparently. Not terribly shocking, I suppose...

John Romero has announced a free unofficial spiritual successor to The Ultimate DOOM's 4th episode

Quoting: HamishIs there any reason why it needs a limit removing source port like GZDOOM or can it still be run with something more chocolate?
It may just be that he likes gzdoom; he mentions it somewhere in this video series:

'Devs Play', by Double Fine -- John Romero plays through Ep. 1 of the original Doom, on gzdoom, with commentary:
