The Atari VCS team aren't doing themselves any favours by accusing The Register of being professional trolls

I remembered where I had heard about this; it's from a retro gaming youtuber's channel (which I don't follow regularly, so I know nothing about this guy otherwise); he kind of made a big deal out of the 'fake footage', though it mostly was a case of careless wording on the VCS website & lack of communication with the developers themselves. (It was footage 'for illustrative purposes' (well...) for a *yet to be announced* port; but the developers themselves hadn't even learned about the 'port', so they called out the fake footage, this youtuber caught wind of it, etc. etc.)
Their response to the youtuber who made a report about this was also a little on the impulsive & harsh side:

Quoting: GustyGhostDemonstrations based on a souped-up windows pc behind the curtain is almost OK for cross-platform titles, otherwise it's obviously deceptive -- though the intentions behind doing something like that need not be entirely fraudulent.Quoting: wvstolzingWasn't there also a minor controversy before this one, that they 'demonstrated' games on the system which they actually ran on a windows pc behind the scenes? That is pretty much par for the course for running console demos.

circuits/tinkercad [External Link]
(Select the 'Text' option on the 'Code' sidebar to get proper Arduino syntax.)
I wish this was available as an offline desktop application.
It's quite limited, but things like sensors are very cleverly implemented (you just adjust the simulated quantities with various graphics on the work area [check out the distance sensor, for instance]), and the Arduino just seems to be the 'real thing'.

Quoting: GuestI dont know of any software-level simulators of AVR chips.Yeah that's what the 'circuits' tab under 'tinkercad' allows:

Quoting: GuestI use LTSpice for circuit simulations.. and I just use the Arduino (or an AVR chip) for programming ;)Is it possible to simulate microcontrollers in LTSpice itself, and program them as well?

Also the game looks very interesting; always happy to see new 'Zachlikes', haha.

Quoting: GuestI prefer to design real circuit boards now. EAGLE even runs on Linux (at least, until Autodesk destroy it completely)I wish the new incarnation of circuits.io (under 'tinkercad' ) had an offline application. As far as I can see (which isn't very far because I'm an ignoramus) neither Eagle nor Fritzing has a simulation feature -- including support for programming a simulated Arduino or ATtiny.

I'd like to think (fantasize more like) that this is because intel's becoming aware that their CPU dominance in desktops & servers is coming to an end. (In that context, I can't wait for RISC V systems to become mainstream & affordable.)

Quoting: Duke TakeshiAlso not being allowed to have these games ported to Linux wouldn't shed a good light on M$'s alleged love towards open source / Linux. In fairness, though, they've never claimed to 'love open source' in any context other than 'cloud services' and the like. If they had made any fawning remarks about desktop Linux, or open source in education, or (heaven forbid) gaming etc., that would've been stomach-turningly blatant in its hypocrisy.

Quoting: Whitewolfe80You mean like when warner brothers told them to stop work on Batman Arkham Knight and then told them its not coming out you mean like that kind of contract. Also, it's not like M$ bought them on a whim this afternoon; it must have been in the talks by the time Feral put out the 'hint'.

Coupled with various rumors that they might switch to an ARM variant (designed at least partly in-house) on the desktop machines, I don't think it's too crazy to predict that the Mac's future is to become a beefier ipad.
I'm not sure what that entails exactly, but I don't think they'll let go of their 'content creator' customers *entirely* (despite having given them 'the finger' repeatedly over the past decade). For all we know, Adobe might be preparing not just for the transition to Metal, but also to ARM. Though whatever the Mac line ends up turning into, their absurd 'forced obsolescence' policy will have to change.

Quoting: MohandevirOr they are just aiming to completely axe the MacBook line and eventually concentrate on their mobile division only (crazy rumor I read somewhere)...I'm not sure whether there's anything official to corroborate this, but since 2015-2016 'insiders' have been reporting that there isn't a dedicated 'macOS' team at Apple anymore; it's basically a side-project for the iOS team.
