Oculus Rift has some shady stuff in their terms & privacy policy

What do they mean by 'user content'? Does the Rift have something equivalent to 'Tilt Brush' (which I find more interesting than any VR game, actually), such that people can create their own '3d artworks' and exhibit them somewhere public? Otherwise what VR 'content' are they talking about? User-edited levels for VR games?

That they're collecting information about this, though, is gloriously absurd:

physical movements and dimensions when you use a virtual reality headset
So suppose a VR version of Super Hexagon comes out, where you control the little triangle with your neck movements ---- and before you know it, next time you're on whatever ad-ridden website, you'll be confronted with ads for neck pain relief medication, special padded pillows, and the like.

Play a game where you need to move your hips to and fro (not that the Rift can capture that movement), and get ready to close some porn pop-ups next time you're web browsing.

Some of these are pretty nice; but they aren't *bitmap* fonts, are they? They seem to be available only in vector formats.

You mean support for BSD as well as Linux?

I played American Truck Simulator on Linux, don't ever let me drive a real truck

I have some idea through one of my uncles that long-haul truck driving is an extremely demanding job. I'm tempted to pick up one of the available simulations, but I'm pretty sure I lack the patience to play it properly, without turning it into GTA. :)

Erm.... strap what on? I've never heard that phrase used as you just used it.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one to think that.

That seems to be a popular idea; though I'm not sure I can clearly see the reasons for it.

For a time, the reason people offered was that streaming services would replace local hardware. Well, a year ago a couple of streaming services became operational, and they hardly ushered in a revolution.

What has changed in the meanwhile, to suggest that this 'unification' move isn't just a symptom of the weird ideology that's been dominant at M$ for the past few years (and which has resulted in such  grand successes  in the 'mobile space')?

Linux people are of course inimical to the very idea, but Apple-style non-upgradable closed systems with supposedly convenient app stores became a commercial success for a reason. Given the mongrel being they're trying to create (half open-PC, half appstore bound locked-down thingie), I'm not sure those at M$ understand that 'reason'.

So what does this imply for the hardware side of the xbox business? Are they discontinuing it? Won't people riot because they're forced to become 'PC gamers'? Wouldn't that entail total Sony dominance in the 'console space'?
