Quoting: denyasisI was always under the impression that most/many of the Chromebooks were lower powered ARM chipsets? I'm assuming this is for x86 systems only?
I also assumed that this is for >ARM< based systems...
So, no Steam for ARM yet?
That would change nothing. Wine (Proton) still doesn't work on ARM.
Codeweavers CrossOver runs on ARM based Macs and you can play games on it.
Through Rosetta 2. You need an emulation layer for that (x86).
On other ARM devices things like QEMU is needed for the same reason.
Crossover's Chrome OS support is limited to Intel CPUs.

Quoting: Purple Library GuySome good stuff, but "A Unity system rework" I think means that weird stuff where you can no longer do much about your Admin cap and empire sprawl. I'm really not looking forward to that. At all.
That's why I'm glad I can go back to the previous version on Steam. I can wait for them to polish the new mechanics some more.

One of my favourite games, I really hope they will further improve it. It still has a lot of potential.
Note, that their latest update broke the game on anything older than Ubuntu 19.04. There was a glibc requirement change that wasn't mentioned anywhere. Though it can still work using LD_PRELOAD with the proper library.

Quoting: NeoTrantorI bought the game on Epic Games. Guess I'm not getting a Linux version, right?
As far as I know, there is nothing that runs on Linux natively in the Epic Store (no game has a Linux version in their store).

Linux vendor System76 releases the Pangolin, a full AMD laptop

Quoting: PinballWizardSo maybe this is a good place to enquire; I'm a Linux enthusiast living in the United States and I have an ancient gaming laptop that I just as a software lab machine for development that I'm thinking of upgrading. I'm looking for a 17 inch laptop with a dedicated AMD gpu to take advantage of those open source drivers; I'm shocked by the lack of options. I see an MSI that fits my profile but the reviews say the fans are loud(I have a pet that may be a problem for). There aren't that many laptops out there with dedicated AMD gpus.
If you are talking about the MSI Bravo (or something like that) I remember that according to tests it is as loud as any other model out there with a similar performance, or maybe even a bit more quiet. Of course it depends on the usage as well. And it seemed it had a better cooling solution than many other competitors. Because it is simply unavailable in my country, I ended up choosing an Acer Nitro with 4800H + Nvidia card. Using it with disabled Nvidia. For everyday use it is silent, for heavier tasks it ramps up the fans. I would expect something similar for the MSI model.

That's truly good news. I have been hoping for it to continue being developed. My only wish is that they don't forget supporting Linux as well. I have seen some unanswered problems on their forums and I had a random exit in the game just an hour ago (autosave to the rescue).

One advantage is support. It not only means that they will answer your questions, but your problems (e.g. noticed bug) will have priority for their developers as well.

System76 announce their 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen powered Serval WS laptop

Some benchmarks suggested that the Radeon 5500M and 5600M are below their Nvidia counterparts in terms of power. This might be one of the reasons that many (if not most) laptops that come out with an AMD CPU (including the Ryzen 4000 series) get an Nvidia card as they are meant for the gaming laptop category.
