No Brakes Games have discontinued Linux support for Human: Fall Flat
30 Oct 2018 at 11:14 pm UTC

Quoting: MaxPowerSad. I did not have any problem running that game. Why?
Gonna tell you why, No Brakes games are just awful developers, the game itself is fun and good, but its plagued with a lot of bugs that hasnt been attended for months, the menus and the way you get into the splitscreen is just so counterintuitive.
Also the lack of content is disturbing and the fact their workshop support is just awful, it seems they are planning another DLC stage soon and they see Workshop maps as a menace to their plans.

Another dev to blacklist, nothing else.

Fighting game 'Fantasy Strike' is now out on Linux, needs a quick fix
7 Sep 2018 at 6:01 pm UTC

Quoting: ShugyoushaDefinitely interested! There is only one officially supported fighting game on Linux (Skullgirls) and another one is very welcome.

I bought Under Night in-birth ExeLate[ST] as well. It works well through proton but supporting a native effort is worth it. Plus the game looks nice (and maybe I can get my non-fighting game friends to play it with me since they don't need to train for 100+ hours to be able to play it).
It one friend of yours need 100+ hours to "play" a fighting game, well, with all respect with people with mental disabilities, you have retarded friends. If you are truly a fighting gamer stop spreading this bu115h1t about fighting games being so "hard".

The logic behind this game is flawed, I would like to use a mouse on SF V, Guilty Gear or Blazblue as much as I want to use a fighting game stick on Starcraft or use a racing wheel for playing Insurgency. People who doesnt want to effort will be scrubs on everything they play, and scrubs most of times doesnt buy games or doesnt even attend gaming events so this game is destined to disappear with all the other fighting games with simplified inputs, including Blade Strangers, Crosstag and Rising Thunder amongs others.

If Dragonball FighterZ is a success is not because its simplified style, its because every game with Goku and friends sell like a hot bread. But the game barely beat SF V with 100 players
over the formerly at EVO, being SF V a 3 year old game. And SF V makes 6000 registers the first year, DBFZ just did 2600.

Inb4 to those comments with the "I never played a fg because I dont have time to practice inputs, that is why the genre is dying" just go to any major fighting game event and try to run a Fantasy Strike or if there is one support it. If you are right, Fantasy Strike should be beating games like Guilty Gear or Uninst in entrance players, if you are right FS will be beating SF V shortly saving the genre.

Im just glad that I can play Koihime Enbu, Melty, KOF and others on Proton, so I dont have to be supporting any fighting game just because "its out" on Linux.

Valve have rolled out Steam Play into the stable Linux Steam Client, along with touch controls for Steam Link

Quoting: mahagrI just wish that Steam didn't list Windows games inside my Linux library..
Turn off Steam Play and voila, no more Windows games on your library. :s

Im not surprised, I have test 11 indie fighting games and only one didnt work. thats a 93% of success.
I guess that compatibility list on Github is feeding from the Google doc sheet so I dont think that reporting my results there wont be neccesary.

Some thoughts on Valve’s new Steam Play feature and what it means for Linux gaming

As a indie fighting gamer, Im just exited. My fighting games working on my Linux went from one(Skullgirls) to ten games of my library, including KOF 98UM(cant make kof 2002um to work yet)NitroPlus, Guilty Gear ACPR, Blazblue, Koihime Enbu, Uniel, Fighting Herds and Melty Blood.
What can I say? IM HAPPY. Those games actually were never meant to hit linux, made by japanese indie developers who actually barely knows that Linux exists...

Valve officially confirm a new version of 'Steam Play' which includes a modified version of Wine

Where are the people who said, that valve has done nothing for linux gaming?

GOG have gone on the offensive with their new 'FCK DRM' initiative
22 Aug 2018 at 5:56 pm UTC

I remember pretty well when I was without internet for 15 days and then, I was able to play many games of my Steam library by just telling Steam to go in offline mode.
This is just going to the other extreme(the hate towards developers right to protect their stuff with a minimal DRM) and I don't see what is the problem on DRM as there's an option to play offline.
Despite Denuvo being too harmful that didn't stop Monster Hunter World, to sell 300k copies in two days on Steam and I cant see how attacking every DRM system out there even those who aren't that bad are going to help the cause.
This only suits to Steam haters while makes no harm to Denuvo.
Another reason for me to stay away from GOG, this hipster hate is just annoying.

Valve may be adding support for using compatibility tools for playing games on different operating systems
15 Aug 2018 at 3:36 am UTC

After hearing what is happening on Unity with Linux ports, it could be better if Valve makes an editor for Source 2 and of course make Source 2 to be complete independent of any third party proprietary software. Native ports are much better than any Wine stuff, but whatever...

Football Manager 2019 announced and sadly it's not coming to Linux

Quoting: Leopard
Quoting: Beamboom
Quoting: LeopardPeople on Linux don't buy games
Why do you bother stating such obviously wrong claims? Why are you even here, on a site with pretty much only Linux gamers buying games (with the possibly single exception being you).
I'm here because i'm a gamer on Linux. That's it.

But problem is that ; Football Manager is a PC exclusive game. Means consoles are out. So that is very niche and Linux gamers can/ could mean so much more to them than Linux gamers did to say Rockstar , Epic Games , CDPR and so on.

That is a warning bell.

There is an obvious statement about strategy genre on Linux: it is maybe most represented genre on Linux. Reason is simple. Strategy games are not on consoles because of their nature.

If that also spread to strategy , you can say pretty much Linux gaming took a devastating blow.

SEGA is one of the most Linux friendly publishers , i hope they continue to support.
Next time explain yourself as you did here from the start, because as you see some people took you point personal, including Liam.
Then I see people using their personal experience to try to elaborate an argument. "I bought 17 games this year", thats cool, but it doesnt mean everyone else is doing it.
Despite this game being a yearly scam release, with some stuff added but basically being the same since 2013, Im agree this is a warning bell, so everyone should take this more seriously instead of pretending that nothing happened.

Facepunch are no longer selling the Linux version of the survival game Rust (updated)
28 Jul 2018 at 5:59 pm UTC

Quoting: GoboI was interested in Rust years ago. But I read about toxic players ruining the fun in game repeatedly, so I never bothered to actually buy the game or join any giveaways. Those toxic players cannot be concentrated on Linux only, there are a lot of idiots on other platforms as well. And as far as I understand Rust used cross platform play, so judging by the percentage of Linux gamers there have to be lots of bad apples in the Windows users group.

And I don't believe Linux users are more vocal than users of other platforms in general. But I do believe that lack of QA leads to more pain for those users which fuels the flames. If your product has different quality on different platforms, those users will sound off accordingly. Ask developers with great Linux support if they think of us as toxic and they will tell you otherwise.

Eat your own dog food.
Completely agree with you, the game has been broken on windows many times and I'm pretty sure Windows players has rant Facepunch too but Garry is just mad on Linux.
Obviously he expect people to be better than him, not being angry that the game wasn't on sale on Linux anymore and they didn't say anything. Way to go Facepunch.

Also I didnt know we can use the word "HATE" to describe a situation when someone isn't agree with our arguments.

The Atari VCS team aren't doing themselves any favours by accusing The Register of being professional trolls

Quoting: GuestTo be fair The Register are professional trolls, and click baity ones at that, but yes poor form from Atari.
I would disagree, their reporting is basically always exactly on the mark, they're just quite funny and sarcastic in how they write.
The line that separates funny/sarcastic and trolling is pretty thin. That doesnt justify Atari behavior.

Im agree with LibertyPaulM.
