'Duke Grabowski, Mighty Swashbuckler', a great looking point-and-click adventure is now on Linux

Note that this is episode 1, several (four?) more are still in the pipeline.

Heroine's Quest: The Herald of Ragnarok is coming to Linux, developer looking for testers

This is good news!
I look forward to playing this game under Linux.

(I was one of the people who asked [External Link] them about Linux progress. Maybe my post reminded them to (more actively) look into it? :))

Slime Rancher updated, hits 300K sales and I asked the developer about their Linux support

Quoting: aldyMaybe linux users don't have the habit of buying unfinished games.
Usually, as soon as I see "Early Access Game" on a game's Steam page, I close the tab. I don't even take the time to look at the discount percentage or review scores. Unless I'm mistaken I've only once bought an Early Access game, from the Don't Starve series. I just don't want to play unfinished games. Plus, I'm trying to make sure I don't miss out on getting any fun Steam Achievements; sometimes (some of) these are added closer to the launch date. I've seen Jim Sterling play Slime Rancher, the game didn't appeal to me. That 0.5% is disappointing. Not that far away from our 0.8% market share on Steam though. Sometimes it's difficult to stay optimistic for us Linux gamers.

Today GOL turns 7 years old!

Congratulations!

GOL is a very useful website for Linux gamers.
I've been checking it daily for years.
(Multiple times a day, to be completely honest... ;))

A third of Valve now working on VR, still no Linux support

Quoting: cRaZy-bisCuiTI don't give a d**n - who cares about VR?
You don't care about VR and Linux. Maybe you also don't care about Steam Broadcasting and Linux. However, sooner or later you will care about something else related to Linux. When that time arrives, you'll want your fellow Linux users to write something else than "I don't give a d**n - who cares".

I see your profile icon is the Arch Linux logo. I personally do not use Arch. However, I would, for instance, still help you run my software on your distribution. I will not write "I don't give a d**n - who cares about Arch?".

Valve & HTC launch the Vive VR device, without Linux & SteamOS support
5 Apr 2016 at 11:08 pm UTC Likes: 4

I pre-ordered an HTC Vive on the first day that was possible. I've been using GNU/Linux only since 1997, and I have no plans to move to Windows. I don't see a reason not to expect support in the near future; it won't be long. Just think of where we were five years ago. Now we have 2,000+ games on Steam, and official support for a modern virtual reality headset on the horizon. I don't mind having to wait a couple of months for support. A bit more communication from Valve's side would be welcome, of course. This is my second pre-order, by the way. The first was The Talos Principle. I didn't regret that and I don't expect to regret pre-ordering an HTC Vive. Patience, grasshoppers. :)

Don't Count On Any EA Frostbite Powered Games On Linux

Quoting: BladeforceWe will never see EA on Linux because EA have had tea and biscuits with Microsoft for decades. Not going to happen, they may as well be a part of Microsoft. Facts right there
Contrary to what you seem to think/imply, there is no (anti-Linux) conspiracy.

EA has had relationships with both Sony and Microsoft for years. Those are the big console players (PlayStation and Xbox, respectively). On the desktop it's just Microsoft. Mr. Andersson points to the "Steam Hardware & Software Survey" for a reason, and he even spells it out: Linux users represent less than 1% of all Steam users. EA is company. It wants to make money; that's why it collaborates with Microsoft. If Linux had, say, a 10% market share, EA would look at Linux differently.

Microsoft Studios, the video game production wing for Microsoft, published for Linux (Mark of the Ninja, Dust: An Elysian Tail, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet). Electronic Arts has published for OS X (DeathSpank). Companies want money. Companies will include Linux as a target where it makes sense. Microsoft is one of the major contributors to the Linux kernel, for example. It made available PowerShell DSC for Linux, Visual Studio Code for Linux, open sourced (parts of) .NET and took it cross-platform, Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 supports targeting Linux, and so on.

As Mr. Andersson writes, if they currently don't support OS X, then why would they start looking at an even smaller audience. He did not make that up. The (secret) truth is not that Microsoft is steering EA in a certain direction. There is no conspiracy. You cannot look into the future. You don't know if we will "never see EA on Linux".

Shadow of Mordor Nvidia Benchmarks On Linux
5 Aug 2015 at 8:50 pm UTC Likes: 1

Here are benchmarks for a GTX 650 Ti @1080p.
(Under Linux, obviously.)

| Lowest | Low | Medium | High | Very High | Ultra
avg | 63.67 | 58.58 | 42.14 | 37.02 | 34.75 | 22.33
max | 87.03 | 83.09 | 64.16 | 62.97 | 58.83 | 37.13
min | 28.93 | 25.41 | 17.79 | 16.36 | 14.93 | 13.50

As an image, for easy formatting:

(image mirror [External Link]

- Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost/PCIe/SSE2 (2GB)
- Intel i7-4770K, s1150
- 250GB Samsung 840 EVO
- 2x8GB DDR3; Corsair Vengeance LP 1600

The exploding barrels cause the min, but it feels natural that an explosion would have an effect on your sight, if you know what I mean.
Either way, I've already finished the main campaign and lots of side quests and I think the game runs great.
