My top list of must-have strategy games on Linux as of right now

Xenonauts is a pretty fun retro xcom game (but at higher resolution). There is a sequal in the works.

Alien: Isolation – The Collection is currently rather cheap on the official Feral store

Its a good game but has some annoying back tracking with the levels at times. I REALLY wish they made a multiplayer DLC were your the team on Nostromo trying to survive, change history [movie], would be awesome sauce x 10!!!

Unity bugs are holding back 'Syndrome' from coming to Linux

I always felt system shock was a more interesting story and had more potential then the Bioshock series of games which was retro steampunk with things that make no logical scientific sense...

The Vulkan API spec has been updated again, now at its 34th revision since release

I really wish Bethesda would give the keys to their games for porting to Linux. Many of them already run well under Wine but its just too clunky to run mods and related programs via Wine so a actual port would be nice for those games!

SkyrimSE and FO4 being the latest, but might require some actual work to port. I think Bethesda is openly ANTI Linux in a BIG way unfortunately... real sad...

You need to have very good working drivers, Linux has been plagued with major issues with drivers for a long time, and not just GPU drivers.

Until their flawless, we won't see a major shift. I know thats asking allot, but Windows has pretty damn good working drivers for both cards for all the games I have played with only occasional bugs with certain games now and again. Linux on the other hand is a literal landmine!

PS. I'm pro Linux, but I can't just drink the coolaid fantasy and ignore the major issues as to WHY Linux struggles as a gaming/desktop platform! %1-2 on Steam stats is just sad, we need %10

The Linux port of space action game 'EVERSPACE' is sounding a bit iffy now

Probably need at least another year or two of driver evolution for Linux to stop becoming a major issue for these ports. I know allot of people will argue otherwise but I have tested BOTH sides of the fence now and yeah, too many issues still coupled with MAJOR performance regressions/problems. Even the NVIDIA proprietary drivers have some annoying issues still!

Too many BIG TICKET items are windows only, for example GTA5, FO4, Witcher3, DA3, all the COD/BF games, the list just keeps going on with these sort of platform selling games. Probably take a miracle for those sort of games to see Linux any time soon!

Wine allowed me to re-live a gaming experience I had from when I was a child on Linux

Only issue I have with Wine is whether or not Steam factor in it for Linux platform or not.

When I do the survey that sometimes pops up when in Steam under Wine it does say the system platform is WINE but I don't know how that data is factored in the statistics at the end of the month, it should be counted as Linux sale/use but we know Valve isn't too kind to Linux when it comes to stats, unfortunately.

Still waiting for DX11 under Wine, and Vulkan support. That would be amazing, we've been stuck at DX9 forever....

Rocket League thoughts on Linux, initial port report, it’s also 25% off right now

There is a environment prefix you can run before (and inline) the game command to disable vblank, I think its like GL_VBLANK=0 or some crap, you will need to search up about it as I only used it a few times a fair while ago.

The Witcher 3 was apparently never planned for Linux

I don't think they are crying about not selling to the few Linux users who might buy this. I have however bought it, but not paying for DLC. Looks like we will need to wait for WINE to have DX11 support, which will be around the same time when CyberPunk 2077-II comes out :(
