You can download the main game and play for free for the next day or so. For anyone wanting to try it out on Steam, its 18gb download however.
I'm getting it to test out the performance at 4k on my 980GTX, was surprised the Dying Light Demo performed quite well on high settings with 4k. (blur/AA off obviously)

This is good, however the Unity3D engine does deliver bad performance for quite a few games attempting too much with it, for example the new Carmageddon game, and even Wasteland 2 had issues (which should be fixed in Dir Cut version). Unity team really does need to get multi-threading working along with DX12/Vulkan, it will only mean GREAT things for them if they do!

This will be interesting, I don't mind if they had to remove some post-process effects or so to begin with with the BETA, to be honest under Windows those bells and whistles were not worth it either. So bring on the beta Linux port, really to begin testing.

Nice, however one thing that always bothered me about this game/sim is when two Earth sized or similar sized bodies collide, one disintegrates into the other. This is unlikely to happen, pretty sure they would mould into one planet with a molten centre ring until a sphere is formed. (mass/size of both larger then original)
Hard to describe, but basically 1 planet completely disintegrating while the other remains isn't right.,

I had issues starting Galactic War mode under Linux, trick was to use --software-ui launch option to get INTO GW mode, SAVE then remove that launch option and then load the GW game from the single player menu, fixed. However without doing that you get a assortment of black screen menus and inability to build stuff in-game.
Wish they fix things like that, wouldn't take much effort considering I found a work around by myself.
I will wait around before buying TITAN, its 66% off which is around $20AUD for me. Still seems a bit high considering the troubles this game has given me.
PS. They should just add in all the mechanics for the community to write & make a single player campaign themselves.

Shadow Warrior on Linux, what a excellent example of a port. 4k resolution all on ultra 60fps...
Also been playing ARK, which is a example of a BAD BAD port to Linux, possible to get working OK but has major issues.

If they use Vulkan they can probably make it work quite well, however I have little Faith OpenGL in wrapper form will perform well for this game.
