And so it begins, the Steam Summer Sale is here
23 Jun 2016 at 7:15 pm UTC

I managed to get the XCOM2 Deluxe for sale from another site (kinguin) for $35usd so I guess my impatience didn't bite me in the ass this time!

Think its time to buy portal series at 83% off :)

Quoting: KimyrielleSo Stellaris and Master of Orion cost the same now. :D
Which one to get? oO
Stellaris has more content and is not dumbed down space RTS. MOO is pretty dumbed down version which a monkey should be able to handle, they even removed secondary races from the game recently so you don't haft to think about that.

XCOM 2 - Alien Hunters thoughts, prepare to get frustrated

I got XCOM2 now and will say it runs pretty good with AMDGPU-PRO drivers, probably on par with what Liam was getting last night at 1440p (4k works ok also but bit too much screen tearing due to lowfps).

EDIT: After further testing, certain missions like retaliation ones have REAL low FPS even with everything turned off. Bizarre.

They better have some pretty big rewards once you finally kill the bastards. I mean you are likely to loose ALLOT of soldiers to them early on wreaking your economy.

UPDATE: I somehow managed to find this for $44AUD which is about 35USD in DELUXE version, so I grabbed that considering the steam sale is unlikely to be more than %50off anyway. Got Kane and Lynch 2 for free as a bonus (pfft).
So it looks like I will be able to play this soon, and test performance on my 390x with AMDGPU-PRO drivers.

A third of Valve now working on VR, still no Linux support

I have been exposed to 4k desktop and gaming for too long to use VR, it would be like hot knife into my eyeballs having my face pressed up against a shitty stretched 1200p screen!

Buy games from G2A? You should just stop already, tinyBuild lost out on approx $450K of sales

I didn't know G2A was such a problem. Thought 'most' the keys were just bought as surplus/steamsale or from different countries for cheaper.

I did know that there were scammers selling keys on G2A as I have received a couple in the past, but didn't know the problem was of this magnitude. I'll definitely stop buying stuff from them in the future. Thought here in Australia it's quite hard to buy from official chains, the prices are pretty high IMO, generally I just wait for the yearly sales.

Starting to get annoyed with expansions that cost more than the original title..

Soon we will start seeing more 5k and 8k monitors in use. Also is anyone using a 4096 x 2160 pixel screen? DCI standard or something, are those wider?

The Hive, a rather good looking RTS game has Linux support

Sort of reminds me of some sort of ANT colony/survival game. Decent effort, not sure on the whole skeleton warrior thing.

Satellite Reign now has a co-op mode called Uplink which is in beta

This game is only 650mb, quite a small download. I have the GOG version, never got into it, seems its got no story telling and is just a corp esp based game.

The only really negative I have ready about it is being difficult to control all the units due to real-time setup, there is no pause button in this game apparently so you don't get much chance to adjust to situations.

Razer announces the HDK2 VR headset, will support OSVR and SteamVR

Nice, I will wait for a good 1440p solution, I like the Open format better. So far this closed garden setup Rift has going is a bit annoying, developers need to STOP THAT!

It would also be viable for a company to take a 4k screen(s) for VR and just render stuff in 1200-1440p via downscale. That will solve performance and the fidelity problem considerably. (not cost unfortunately)

Dell set to introduce beefed up Steam Machines

The RX480 should bring some new life to the steam-machine push. Hopefully AMD can sort out some good official drivers with the pro series before then so SteamOS can be a THING..
