AMD confident in Zen 3 CPUs and RDNA 2 GPUs launching in 2020

I really want a AMD GPU but they will need to basically COPY PASTE RTX/NGX features and match or beat 30 series in those areas for me to notice them.

Allot of people think RTX and NGX is nonsense-ware but a rude awakening is going to hit them hard in 2021 and 2022! (maybe even late 2020).

The primary thing that NVIDIA does that completely annoys me to no end is their inability to release driver support for Wayland!

Valve gets another developer to work on Linux graphics drivers, starting with AMD RADV

Maybe valve can get some push going on NVIDIA working under Wayland? surely there is a way to do it without a whole new driver?

PS. Gabe is currently in New Zealand and has lost quite a bit of weight!

I own a VR device but its not on the list. The Quest, technically it can be connected to PC via Linux if someone builds an app to do it. ALVR could be compiled against dotnet5 under Linux for example.. No idea how one would go about it.

Believe it or not, the Quest headset is the only viable option for many places outside the US such as Australia where Index and other headsets are not sold in store and require imports which can easily exceed a $2000 price tag!!!

The Quest headset cost me $649AUD and the updated model (white) is said to be even cheaper then that. DAMN shame nobody has managed to get them linked up to Linux PC yet. (works amazing under Windows and Virtual Desktop app, or Link cable)

Quoting: LightkeyOne suggestion would be untangling the GPU models mess, adding filters for card families or market segments.
Yeah, something like low end, mid range, high end filters could be useful.
My 1080TI was high end at one stage, now its mid range. So you'd be updating that list a fair bit.

Wasn't this originally aimed at $199USD? now its double that and no hardware changes?

I'm sure it will be quite a decent little stream box, but $400 is the price of the NEXT-GEN consoles without a bluray drive.

Not sure why companies like taking Linux, then doing their absolute best to make a DOA product out of it due to dodgy effort. (looking at Stadia)

Linux game manager Lutris gets a small update for Direct3D 12 using VKD3D-Proton

I'm really curious if NGX is going to be able to enable stuff like DLSS through VKD3D because I think that will be VERY popular for Proton users as we already take a performance hit when using proton vs running native under Windows, some games more so then others.

My VR Rant:
I wish I could ditch Windows10 completely, but I still need the Oculus APP and VD-Streamer for VR gameplay. (link and wifi).
If only Valve would make a standalone VR headset (no light towers) that connect via WIFI (wifi6?). I read somewhere that there are dedicated VR APU's for optimal encode/decode et al. being made (to fit inside standalone headsets).

It would be pretty funny if one day WSL2 allow for MS Store Game Pass to work on Linux, that'd be pretty amusing.
