Quoting: AnxiousInfusionOkay so they say it themselves: Teamspeak is expensive and Skype is a hassle, why not just use Mumble? When Discord works, it's way way more convenient then setting up a Mumble server.
Saints Row 2 Looks Like It's Coming To Linux

Saints row 2 on Windows was not that horrible some of you seem to think it was.
I played through the entire game twice (with friends) and sure, there was some horrible bugs showing and to be honest almost all cutscenes are bugged in some way. But you know, the game wasn't being too serious (well, a lot more serious then SR3/4) and a lot of those cutscenes bugs was just funny as hell.
If we talk about the actual gameplay there are like one or two super critical bugs but there was workarounds for that. Overall the game was really fun, especially with a friend.

I might have been too harsh about it. But this port lacks A LOT especially when it comes to performance.
And you made me curious. I wonder how well this game runs under Wine if it runs at all. And regards to eON wrapper, if this game was ported with it we would at least had the multiplayer cross-platform.
I did enjoy the Shadow of Mordor port, even if I believe that port also lacks somewhat in performance compared to the Windows one. At least I was able to get out 90-60fps from that game and changing the settings actually had an impact.
I don't have any knowledge around OGL and such. But clearly either OGL lacks and can't even compare with DirectX or Feral lacks in implementing it.

I'm amazed that this game runs so poor on Linux. This port is for sure quite epic. Feral, you might have had a good track record, but you just wiped it out.

Quoting: grenadecxDecided to test the port out since it's free for a couple of days.FYI I just tried the game from Windows 10. With everything set to High, Vsync off and AA off - This game runs about 120-150 fps.
So my specs are:
OS: Ubuntu 15.04 ( with Unity/Compiz with "Undirect fullscreen" )
Graphic card: Nvidia GTX 780 with 352.30 drivers
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz
RAM: 16GB
Resolution: 1920x1080
I should be able to run this game on medium settings without AA with quite a good performance. While I can't compare it with Windows version, this is what I believe.
Anyways, I turned everything to LOW or OFF. And decided to start the campaign. I get somewhere around 20-50 fps, usually around 25-30, with some micro stuttering. Sure, I didn't play for long but why would I when I have that horrible performance.
Horrible.

But at least they are porting. Which is a good thing. I'm sad however that this port doesn't have cross-platform multiplayer and that's why I wont be supporting this port with my money.

Quoting: sleortI will not be buying anything from feral from now on, until they fix their AMD driver support. The AMD driver may not be as good as the nvidia-one, but I own a Fury X and in the stress test I get 14 fps max... How can feral interactive be this miserable at programming opengl?I agree. Not only the performance for AMD but I also think the performance for Nvidia could be better.
In Unigine valley I get 110fps on 1920x1200 - that's more than michael from phoronix does with the 980ti at 1080p...
I have very good performance in Houdini 14 and aspyr games - even eon games is fairly good, but the only feral game I have played with good performance on AMD cards is Empire Total war. Rest of their linux library is extremely poorly optimized. Especially with COH2 it feels like they just made a generic conversion from directx and then asked nvidia to do the rest.
I do know that in most cases some nvidia card at a lower price level might perform at the same level or even better as my furyx. What I'm trying to say is that if the opengl is done right, then catalyst actually performs quite well in my case.
Hopefully feral steps up their game (together with AMD ofc) as they recently showed in their twitter post with amd hardware.
