Redout, a fantastic looking tribute to games like WipeOut could come to Linux, with enough interest

Quoting: GuestInstabuy if they release a Linux version and only if the game is not capped, i want to play that at 144fps.It better have a high framerate. Hopefully they are smart enough to wait and use Vulkan due to the fact it's a VR title. I am sure it's fun without VR, but a stripped down game without VR for Linux isn't worth the money in my opinion. Even if you're not buying it for the feature, you're kind of paying for that feature. I for one would buy it for this feature as I own a Vive.
'Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope' will support Linux as soon as possible

I would say it's exactly time for you and everyone to judge it. Basically vote now with your wallets instead of feeding into a possible let down. Even if it gets the awesome news of Linux support. It's just as you said there are way better games.
Raw Data being one of those games. I mean a game made by a smaller team in early access on day one had more content and polish than a professional team. When a more indie developer can pull off better graphics, online co-op, an open environment, skill trees, two characters, and mildly intellegent AI all on day one release, it makes the bigger guys look like a joke. Going from Raw Data to Serious Sam VR makes even the sales price of, "31.99USD" feel like highway robbery (in my opinion & not saying Raw Data is perfect either).
This game feels like a neutered Serious Sam. I have bought and played every Serious Sam game to this date and SSVR just isn't the same. The appeal to the older games was the hunting for hidden items, entering areas where you don't know what to expect, the appeal for needing select guns, and just the massive co-op games. Instead this games leaves you with a stand in one spot to just shoot at the enemies and their projectiles coming at you in a stright line. Most of the weapons are pointless to use too such as the shotgun. You're better off just using distance weapons to take out your enemies before they get to you than wait for mid/close range. Otherwise your damaged for sure with no actual dodging methods as you can't teleport or anything. Then for those moments of mass enemies with needing ammo or health, well no worries it rains from the sky every few minutes. Even more so on some of the boss battles on the hardest difficulty "hard".
I for one refunded the game. My first refund ever infact. Hopefully it gets better down the line, but I don't have much hope. Even if they added co-op it will likely not add much to improve upon it. Probably just two to four players only with the same concept of stationary positions with double the enemy count.
(For whom ever might blaze out in rage, I am not saying wave shooters are not fun. Only thing I am getting at is it's not your standard SS game or something to over hype like most are doing).
Oh and is it just me or does the pause menu look like they stole assets from the Brookhaven Experement games forest level? It completely feels out of place. Even more so when your main menus are in a space ship orbiting a planet.

Quoting: IperpidoJust to say... Serious Sam VR is more a sort of experiment than an actual game.(Only my two cents/pence and kind of my review).
Yes, i tried it, and yes, it's really funny to play, but there are way better games on the Vive.
Still an impressive job, anyway. And it's the first Early Access day, so it's probably too early to judge.

Shadwen, the new stealth game from Frozenbyte has a playable Linux demo

This demo is pretty cool and probably will get the full game after playing it. Yet I would like some changes in the full game.
I wish the demo didn't hide the information away in a video and was just presented to you on a need to know basis. Specially when you are just thrown right into the game. When I am thrown into the action I tend to go with the flow to be sucked in. It took me a while before I decided to look for a tutorial. I literally went through the first half of the game just grappling around and dropping down for backstabs. Until I found out I couldn't stab some guards in the back. Items were the last thing on my mind too. As I figured out I had items way to late into the game.
Also, it would be pretty cool to be able to switch to the little girl to move her. At least let me tell her to move because I killed a few of the guards and moved to the finishing gate and she stood running into a crate. In time the crate just spontaneously combusted and yet no alive guards even bothered to look for the noise. Yet I hit a crate very gently and they go into high alert.

Quoting: ricki42Does the tutorial video work for anyone? I just get a bright pink screen. The voice over plays, and keeps talking even after exiting the tutorial. It works for me, but the videos audio will not stop playing, lol. I can open it up to see it and skip the tutorial, but hear it play hundreds of them overlapping.

I would be interested in trying out for this. I do a little of that YouTubing ;) as a hobby. Usually I am not fully on camera if I am at all. It really depends on the content. Though I have been on camera a few times so I am not scared of my face being seen. I also have a decent condenser microphone so I should be rather clear when speaking.
Bound By Flame, an impressive looking action RPG now on SteamOS & Linux

This game is interesting, but full of bugs. I had multi-monitor problems, but fixed that quiet easily. FOV is nonsense and doesn't seem to work for me. The sound is just muddy. Crafting is buggy, when I select craft health items it shows the name on the window, I set the number to craft, and once I hit the craft button it makes traps instead. This game is going to be slightly irritating to play at times. Specially if the highest difficulty is even a challenge with no means to craft health items. I guess I am playing in "Hardcore mode" (face-to-palm).
Quoting: MaximBevery time I move it the camera goes to "bird fly" view.I want "bird fly" view! All I get is "back view". I have the FOV cranked up to the max on 1920x1080 and the camera is just sitting so close to the character. It feels like I am playing on an old computer that can only support around a 1024 resolution.
Quoting: StoneyFishWhat is a good gaming keyboard and mouse option to buy for linux? If you're looking for something easy to setup and want a wireless and/or wired option. Mouse wise the Gigabyte/Aivia Uranium is awesome for being wired or wireless. You can configure keybinds from the control panel device in between the USB wire. The only thing you can't do really is make macros without the Windows software. At least I haven't found a way to do it. Not that I really care because I don't really use macros on a mouse.
Road Redemption Released For Linux, It's In Bad Shape

I feel like I am still playing the wrong build. A good 60+ FPS is obtained on my GTX970, but I have lots of crashes so far. Every so often in the middle of a match. None the less I can't wait for a more stable version. I was quiet the fan of Road Rash. (Now if someone could just make a Interstate '76 clone for Linux).
For example, Valve could make a section in the store page dedicated to nothing but early access and just remove Greenlight. Anyone can upload to it without a fee. Early access games are downloadable by all to play without purchase. On the uploaded game, the developer could turn on an optional time limit of play of 1-2 hours, but if a new build is released the 1-2 hour cap is auto reset. The individual likes the game after playing, they can fund it to receive a full license on said account or gift copy, a special piece content not found in free copy, & perhaps a small say in how the game should progress. Valve could add the purchased games to your profile in a new section called "Early Access Games" allowing advertisement away from the full release games to all your friends.
Once the game meets some Valve placed goal both in sales and votes (maybe something else) it could leave early access stage and be featured on the real store. The free copy might even be able to turn into the full releases demo fixing yet another problem of not having demo's.
In this system, early access games could maybe obtain special Steam keys so Greenlight Bundles could still happen, but it would be more for votes than sells. This way if you back a game in a bundle at least you know you obtained something instead of having that blank "Added when greenlit" in your bundle that may never happen.
To me this would be much easier on actually buying a game marked "Early Access". I tend to add these types of games to my wishlist to rot away until they are released. If I could test a game out for myself, I would likely buy more of these here and there. Instead I just see some possible horrid images or PR video that literally tells me nothing about the games.
Quoting: Beamboom... and this is why they should stop selling pre-releases.
Quoting: BeamboomThen go use a crowdsource service on it, imo. If it is unique enough it should gain attention.I am fine with early access & the whole green light process for the most part. Yet I do think it could be improved so I am kind of with you. It would be fantastic if this system was more open access per se.
There's so much junk coming from these low resource "indies" - and so much abuse of that program to milk the market

Feral Interactive are teasing yet another SteamOS & Linux game

(If only Chase McCain was on the computer to help find those clues. Yet he is held captive, by Wii U and 3DS).
To be some what relevant again. It would be awesome if this was the game.

Quoting: fleskIt has Tux and Apple icons on the radar though, so it's unlikely to be a game that's already available for Mac.Yeah I know, I am just wishfully wishing instead of wishfully thinking or maybe the other way around. The world may never know. ;)
(Trying desperately but failing to link the clues to a LEGO game.)

With all the clues combined, it has to be the King's Bounty collection. :'( Yeah likely not, but I wish I could play all of them on Linux native.
Dishonoured would be nice to see too of course.

GoD Factory: Wingmen Space Combat Game Released For SteamOS & Linux

Yes you can play with a controller or KB&M. Plus you can use a joystick if you have one to dust off and use. However, to launch your ship and guide through some of the menus you have to use a mouse. Unless your joystick has a mouse control of some sort you are juggling controls.
Two of the annoyances I say comes with this game is setting the controller & joystick mappings up and going back to the main menu/Home screen (button has a house). You can't be in a game and test it out at the same time exactly. I tried all three of these and the controller & joystick setup may be on screen, but even the tutorial does not pause the game so your ship just keeps going. Once you do have it set to your liking and told the game what controller you're using it seems to want to ask you each time what type of control type you want to use. Every time I went back to the main menu to click say the "Hanger" button or other options I had to go through selecting my control type each time. Good news is I did not have to re-map my controls again each time.

Quoting: ricki42It says it's got bots, is it possible to play solo practice matches? Or is that just a short tutorial?I just got done playing a round with bots. The game has a tutorial section and if you create a private room you can fill all the remaining slots with bots. It even rewards you with skill points for playing against bots. However, I am not sure if there is a penalty in points acquired due to playing with bots. I haven't played humans to compare. Yet the game has penalties for uneven teams so it is not hard to image that player kills get you more. (The game will give you a warning if the teams are uneven via lobby).
Did you play this with controller or kb&m? Steam site says 'partial controller support', I guess flight controls work with controller?
