Great Vid @Xpander; thought you were going to crash at 1:55. #seriousbrakes

Looks like much more fun than I thought it would be; should maybe give these games a try soon!

Good point AnxiousInfusion; though if I my be so bold as to attempt to answer why I think it is...

"How would you own the game in such a scenario?" - same way you own it in steam, you dont really - but you can access it anywhere.

"What happens if you don't have internet access?" - offline data can foreseeably be use to cache a portion of the game for offline use.

"To rely on WebGL for all your gaming would be no different than to give in to any other DRM schemes." - DRM applies locking you into only "one specific" ecosystem, websites by their very nature are not DRM because you can access on all platforms. IE: you brought the game on your Linux box but you are not locked into using it on your Linux box ONLY - you can still play it on your Mac or Android tablet?

Not only is WebGL owned by Khronos and founded by Mozilla (pretty good open source credentials then) - but its foreseeable that it could support VULKAN one day too! Which would be truly epic for us TUX gamers!

Thank you for posting this TheBoss! As the author of the video states: "[he is] simply stating the facts from their own literature and that if they wanted to, they could take the money and run."

The problem is gamers see those sliders and with the flick of the mouse crank it up to see massive ROI, and they think cha-ching, I'm going to be rich – what could possibly go wrong? (famous last words)

And this means they might spend excessive proportions of their disposable income which could be better spent elsewhere ---- including other kickstarter projects who might be more deserved of their money!

Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition released for Linux & SteamOS, now downloads!

Playing the GOG version on my wife Ubuntu 15.04 and my Ubuntu 15.10 machines.

The default graphics config is quite high-end, just dropped the graphics quality to "low" but kept the resolution at full/native while playing in Windowed mode on both Nvidia 720 and 780GTX its very playable and we're both enjoying the experience.

ADD: I tweaked the settings on my (higher-spec'ed) machine, upping most to high and just leaving AA off and it no performance impact. I must also add it looks great even on "low" on the 720, both running Nvidia propitiatory drivers.

Highly recommend the game as you will get a lot of game for your money (most games even most AAA cant say the same these days). Well done Larian finally doing a good job on the Tux version, never thought it would happen!

SMACH Z, the portable AMD Steam Machine is on Kickstarter

Agree with Iperpido! Why so much negativity from the posters on page 1?

How is this not a good thing? Handhelds might just be the answer to help SteamOS gain mass adoption?

*THE* biggest challenge for driver developers is to get the best outcome across the widest range of supported hardware.

For example…
Take the Playstation 4 for example, AMD delivered amazing linux/FreeBSD drivers (integrate with Sonys own GPU API) that run flawlessly because the hardware is predictable and they are better able to deliver a better outcome in a much shorter development cycle.

If SMACH gets their backing for this device, it means the demand is there and companies like AMD respond to demand. In fact it might just get them taking us TUX gamers seriously which would be great for all of us!

So please people, buck up a bit, if you don't have anything positive to add…

Garry Newman, developer of Rust & Garry's Mod on supporting Linux, possibly not for future games

Nobody is forcing developers to support Tux, if its too hard then I/we forgive them.

That said;

- Linux gamers suffer less from 'casual gamer'-itus.
- Were much more willing to problem solve and much more invested in what we spend our time on.
- This too reflects in our collective maturity, wisdom and disposable income.

Knowing your target market - first rule of any business - means that developers who make games we collectively LIKE will undoubtedly shine through in more positive reviews/feedback.

Rocket League should be on Linux before the end of December

Quoting: BonsWhat to you guys think?,If you see this from a average consumer perspective for once, and don´t look with you Linux glasses on.
3 Reasons Steam Machines are better than Sony and MS consoles and 1 day someone will remind "average consumers" they at least have a choice now (which is better than no choice)!

1. I CAN PLUG IN ANY WIRELESS KEYBOARD AND MOUSE AND PLAY IN-FRONT OF MY TV. (none of the others can do that)
2. The games are on average 1/2 the price of their PS store counterparts, and on a sale day sometimes a fraction of that.
3. I like gaming consoles because its NOT your traditional desktop & therefore no distractions when you just want to play, I work in-front of a computer all day, the last thing I want to do is play with those distractions right there... (some of you dont have that problem - then enjoy your childhood).
4. Every console has gaming limitations, some games supported and some not, if you like the games that Steam Machines support then thats the console for you; else be prepared to cough up top dollars for your latest AAA games (+ PS plus + Season Pass & enjoy).

Sorry off-topic again everyone. Looking forward playing Rocket League on Steam. :)
