Quoting: Whitewolfe80for f*ck sake enough of this bad pixel shite at least make the games look like a 16 bit game instead of mess of blocks.(owlboy is retro pixels done right)
Yeah, why didn't they simply make it as pretty as Owlboy? It's just art, right? It's not like it requires real talent, skill, effort or time. I'm sure the developer appreciates and will take heed of your super constructive criticism. [/snark]

Sorry edgelord but i am sick and tired of pixel crap games there are so many and i am so over them. Yes creating a game takes talent, but i hope that creativity would lead them to look at just how many pixel barf games (broforce is a fun game but looks terrible) are available and then decide on a different art style.

Well, AFAIK you are not obliged to buy "this bad pixel shite". But reading the devblog it seems as if it is just one person working on this game. Cut him some slack - he might be just fond of "pixel barf games".

The Witcher 3 didn't come to Linux likely as a result of the user-backlash from The Witcher 2

Quoting: AlveKattWow... Some of the commenters here actually say they deserved the backlash. Being a game dev must suck. Getting second thoughts about my dream to make my own game...

Well, you could develop open source applications and get hate mails, because you don't want to fix this or that bug or are not interested in this or that feature or don't provide builds for this or that distribution.

Quoting: NyamiouThe idea that a company would judge an entire community over the reaction of a few individuals no matter how loud they can be is completely unacceptable, if CDRP are really like then they got the hate they deserved.

And "they got the hate they deserved" is the problem. People like YOU are exactly the problem.

People like me? WTF? seriously.

Sure. Since you consider that a company deserves hate (because of a product not meeting some people's expectations).

You should apply for a job in the Trump administration.

Seriously? Makes me wonder why there are any Windows games out there. I'd rather say the port didn't really pay off (because it was a released buggy and too early) and the name-calling was just the icing on the cake, or maybe even not that.

Why are people so open-source obsessed? Games are not open-source anyway, as well as Nvidia drivers, so what would be different if Steam goes open-source? Linux market share is too small for gamers to be capricious and picky. Why are people so open-source obsessed? Games are not open-source anyway, as well as Nvidia drivers

We are using Linux after all, not Windows, so you can answer your own question. There is no reason to make such clients closed, except for DRM. DRM can't be open by definition.

I appreciate open source software for important core components of my operating system and the applications I have to work with. I couldn't care less whether such utterly unimportant things as games are open source or not. And the Steam client? Well, it would be nice if it was open source, but far from a necessity. After all we are still talking about this rather unimportant stuff. OTOH DRM can be open source - checking a serial number against some registered serial numbers is hardly anything which requires security by obscurity. Plus there have been initiatives for open source DRM solutions - they probably never caught on.

Denuvo only exists on and for Windows.

Sure? It shows up as gift in your Steam inventory. At least it did about 2 hours ago.

It might be a gift, but "Little Racers STREET" doesn't even start. And according to the Steam forum I am far from alone... Anyone got this working?

OpenGL vs Vulkan in Mad Max, re-tested

Quoting: liamdaweIt's hard to hit Windows levels with games that were never designed with Linux or anything but DirectX in mind.
i know this, but the reasons dont matter, what matter is the facts.
Facts stained posting incoming...

Quotelinux is better, that is a fact, but the games run worse on it because porting without an major shift in the code (like rewrite from scratch in gl) will cost performance.
the end user will not care the reason the game run slow, if he can play the game on windows and cant on linux he will blame the system, or even if he understand, he will not use it.

And your point is? What do you expect? There is a certain market share of people who (solely) use Linux for whatever reason (attitude, ecosystem, tools, tasks, ...) Quite a few people also like to play games. They are served. Period. I don't expect people to switch to Linux because here "the games run just as fast as on Windows". The vendor lock-in is impossible to break for an open source operating system. (That doesn't mean a desktop OS can not successfully replaced by OSes on other devices - see Android.)
