Oh, and before I get the same "your CPU is to slow to run the game anyways" that seems to be the theme on the Steam forums, my X6 easily outperforms the Core i3-4130 that is given as a minimum in the system requirements for Deus Ex.

Quoting: EhvisNope, from what I have read the game runs just fine on Phenom IIs on Windows, this is a Linux only issue, and it would be very sad if that will now be also the case for Dirt Rally.Quoting: TobiSGD@jith_feral: Now the most important question for me: Will the port have the same restrictions as the Deus Ex port and need SSSE3 to run?As I understand it, this restriction came from the original game, not from the port. Since I haven't heard about any such requirement from this game, it should be fine.

Darn it, i just bought the game, only to realize that I can't run it because it needs SSSE3 support, which my overclocked Phenom II X6 lacks. Will have to refund this one.

Quoting: jith_feralNo probs! If you're planning to get a racing wheel specifically for DiRT Rally, I'd suggest waiting until we announce what wheels will be supported, but of course it's totally up to you.Damn, now I have to hope that my Driving Force Pro will be supported.

Would be interesting to know why he quit. If it wasn't for reasons that make it impossible to develop the project further maybe someone can step up and take over. Liam, if you know him already, do you think you could contact him and ask?

Maybe it would also be worth thinking about the fact that Ubuntu, while probably the largest distribution, isn't the whole ecosystem. If Ubuntu just doesn't do it for them, why not recommend a distribution that is updated more often by default? Fedora usually has pretty up to date packages and is somewhat consumer oriented (I think promoting something like Arch, which I personally use, or Gentoo might just not fly with consumer oriented business), or maybe a rolling release distro like PCLinuxOS.

It would be beneficial to Linux gaming, if developers actually would use it. While we are waiting for a feasibility study from Aspyr Civilization 6 on Windows got a DX12 renderer, yay. This pretty much says that Firaxis/2K just doesn't care.
Silence from Daedalic Entertainment is an absolutely beautiful story-rich adventure game, my thoughts on it

Wow, when I read "Silence from Daedalic" in the headline my first thought was "Not another story of a company going silent on Linux ports". Then I remembered who Daedalic is. This game looks quite nice and if I wouldn't still have to play all the Deponia games I might have bought it. Maybe later.
