I finally watched that gameplay video. I think I will have to get this game. It looks really exciting!

Quoting: Avehicle7887Another game I will most likely not buy because of pre order bonuses.

The situation as it stands:

The "Shadowhawk Pack" is a pre-order bonus and the game is releasing as a Windows+Mac first. As a Linux user I want to buy it once the Linux version is out which by the time that happens the pre-orders bonus is gone so goodbye exclusive skin.

Secondly there is the GOG + Multiplayer issue, the dev gave us no assurance the Linux version will be available on GOG. From past experiences, devs seem to magically wake up late to the "Galaxy isn't present on Linux" thing and that can easily mean no Linux for GOG.

Personally it doesn't make any difference to me paying full price now or at release, I'm more than happy to support hard work. However I'm not going to tolerate missing content just because I'm on a different platform. Pre-Order bonuses is bad marketing and they're shooting their own feet here.

I can kinda understand this post may not go down well for some people, but I've been burned twice by a similar situation and I'm not going to make that mistake again.
What you're saying only makes sense. There is zero reason to pre-order. We aren't getting the bonuses. And it's not like they're going to run out of copies. Buy it when it comes to Linux.

I am really looking forward to this game.

We've scheduled two more Rocket League tournaments, here's the details

I'm going to try to make the 20th. I might be able to do both.

By the way, how do we find the tournament? Just search for linux?

I have this one and I played it recently. It's a pretty good one. Worth more than the $6 sale price.

Quoting: Xpanderyeah i know, now many come say do not use paypal, but i dont like to enter my credit card number to multiple sites, so if paypal gets hacked or leaked i know where to search where it got leaked.

So i guess i have to wait now and figure out whats the problem
Ever since I switched to buying Steam games using PayPal long ago, I only buy them from a full web browser instead of the Steam client. It seems more reliable and trustworthy to me.

2nd generation AMD Ryzen desktop processors now available to pre-order
13 Apr 2018 at 10:41 pm UTC

The Ryzen 7 2700X would be wonderful but a 40W TDP jump over the Ryzen 7 2700 for +500MHz base clock...? Tough choice. I really would like 3.7 instead of 3.2 GHz.

I wonder if it's worth waiting for more motherboard announcements. I wouldn't want some really nice one to release like 3 months after I rebuild. A year later, sure, I'm not going to wait that long, but a couple months would kinda bite.

Quoting: ElectricPrismI actually would be happy if there was a limit on the # of units -- say 30 or 40 just like chess or rock paper scissors.
What THE HELL are your rock paper scissors rules?
Haha. It's a RTS insight that some StarCraft and Risk players reference. The idea in risk is that there are 3 kinds of units -- marine, zergling and tank or in the board game, soldier, horse and cannon -- referenced as rock, paper scissors.

StarCraft 1 had 16 units for Terran [External Link] 19 for Zerg 17 for Protoss (52 Units total)

[One area that StarCraft 2 fucked up BIG time was they had many units [at least 20 not including the ones they removed] and buildings](http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Category:StarCraft_II_Terran_units) 27 for Zerg 20 for Protoss (67 Units total not including heros or units removed from multiplayer like flying zergling from the campaign, etc...)

(Actually the difference used to be more -- Expansion #3 of SC2 has improved this a lot more.)

The principle idea behind my statement is that if you change games like Chess or Rock Paper Scissors to add new units it changes the gameplay for the worse.

Imagine they remade Super Mario Brothers NES and decided to change the core mechanics by making mario jump twice as high and eat blocks and enemies instead of climb over them -- the mechanics are critical.

So in the same way, the graphics, and creative units are important, but having what "100+ varied units with abilities including terrain manipulation" could actually make the game so complex that it's not fun and unintendetly alienates a large potential audience.

Having a clear vision for the core mechanics a game or kind of game is critical. Having event timing and clearly identifiable units with clear advantages and disadvantages against other units is important. And I do realize that it is a RTS but not going to town adding complexity where it doesn't need to be will KISS like chess instead of it being a pizza with 2ft of toppings.

Less is more.
And this is why I am a Fire Emblem diehard fan.

Quoting: KimyrielleThe poor privacy controls were the reason why I didn't add friends to Steam at all. I don't want to broadcast all over the world which game I am playing when, and for how long. I wonder why people thought that's anyone's business?
Huh? Maybe your idea of friends is different than mine, but I surely want my friends to see when I'm in a game and what that game is.
My idea of friends is quite specific and involves a small number of people I know offline. However, various online thingies such as Steam have appropriated the term, which makes things confusing. What Steam or Facebook call "friends", I would call "acquaintances" (or in some cases, "random dudes who cold-called me on the internet for some reason" ) and yes, what I'd want them to know is quite limited.
Ah. Well, I tackle that problem a different way. I don't add them to my Steam friends. People like that can send me an email or tweet or something. To me, Steam is about sharing my gaming life, not a chat server.

I'm glad for the additional control. My steam profile is private because I wanted a couple things hidden so I woudn't get spammed for trade offers, but then I couldn't connect other sites that have better dashboards for viewing your own data.

As long as we're talking about further improvements, I think Valve should look at how CCP implements API key permissions. It's wonderfully more granular with optional expiration times even.
