Quoting: CybolicHas anyone here played it; is it any good? Watching that trailer got my hopes slightly up from the Paul Verhooven-ish "Are We The Baddies" intro, but the rest of the gameplay seems to completely drop that tone, so it looks like just another bro-shooter. Is there more to it?A couple friends and I decided to buy it last night, and we proceeded to play for about 6 hours straight, despite some problems the servers were having processing your gear unlocks. It's lovely fun with friends. Has that cooperative action feel from the old days of Halo, except in simpler form. It's also similar to Outriders, yet again, a bit more simplified. It just felt really fun and cool to play. On a side note, I was pleasantly surprised that the trigger feedback on my PS5 controller worked in this game! Very rare on PC. Overall, I highly recommend it to co-op players who like games like Halo, Outriders, Borderlands, Division, and others like those.

I downloaded both the older Abalon and this newer, unreleased game demo; have only played the older one so far, but it's quite pleasant! Better than I expected. Smooth animation and intuitive controls. Feels polished. Never heard of this game before, but I just might have to buy it. Good laptop game.
Steam Next Fest returns with more demos and livestreams

I really wanted to play Dungeonborne after discovering it from a wallpaper and then watching gameplay on Twitch. Man, it looks fun. But yeah, it doesn't launch, and doesn't sound like the type of problem they'd fix during the Fest, so I uninstalled it.

Quoting: JarmerI love these Steam Next Fest's! So I tried some demos, and here's how it went:In Homeworld 3, you only need to reduce the distance slider. Try that. I think it's the asteroids that tank the FPS. The game is kinda cool.
- homeworld 3: autodected ultra visual settings, ran at 16fps, made me nauseous. Turned it down to high, got to about 20 fps. Turned it down to medium, finally ran at 70+ fps. But now the asteroid in front of me looks like a smooth rubber ball. Needs some MAJOR optimizations. Also I had to accept a crazy amount of legal agreements with a billion pages I'll never read.
...
- dungeonborne: can safely forget about this forever as well. Never got to even play it. Doesn't launch, and upon reading the discussions, apparently because of the anti-cheat garbage they use. Oh well.

This stinks. I really liked the newer Deus Ex games.
It's not only the big-budget gaming industry that's having a hard time. Physical inventory is not moving fast enough in general. People are buying less.

Dwarf Fortress Adventure Mode to be more approachable for new players

This is good news. I like a challenge in games sometimes, and learning curve is alright, but I find that patience for those two things is thinner as my years add up. I tried the original Dwarf Fortress a couple times and didn't want to take the time to learn how to do what I wanted to do. Learning controls is not fun. Learning gameplay mechanics is. I decided I'd rather play RimWorld, a game I have nearly 100 hours in.
I'll be interested to see how well the Adventure mode gets reviewed.

My kids have several saves, one of which is like 10-15 in-game years. I'm sure we'll play the new content both on the existing saves plus brand new.

The next time I plan on trying out Wayland on the main tower is KDE Plasma 6. Wayland has been on the laptop for a long time now, and I cannot remember any nuisances there.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyPerhaps you're right in this case, however people on this forum are more often completely serious and committed to this disposition.Quoting: 14I think you missed a bit of sarcasm there.Quoting: ElamanOpiskelijaAre you saying those people shouldn't have been hired in the first place? That's weird. Also, can't go back in time.too many "big bets across the company"of course, it's great to take big bets, as long as others (11%) pay the bill.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI know. And I am saying adding "clearcpuid=304" to your kernel boot arguments is WAY LESS WORK than reinstalling your OS.Quoting: 14That's not what he's saying. He's claiming the suggestion is such bad advice that it is just as bad as advising a reinstall. I have no idea whether he's right, but that's what he's saying.Quoting: BaronVonSuckoDisable AVX-512? What on earth. How about no? This is "Yo dude, Just reinstall!" tier advice.Your bar for reinstalling must be amazingly low.
