Take-Two CEO believes AI will actually increase employment and productivity
8 Feb 2025 at 1:17 pm UTC Likes: 2

...it won't reduce employment.
We're all speculating, so I can't really say that I'm right and he's wrong, but I think he is wrong. Technologies have created work displacement many times. We can think simply of clothes washing machines. Look at how much time that saves people! Nobody wants to spend hours washing their clothes. We accept this. Manufacturing processes have evolved and reduced human labor requirements. It's hard for people to shift. It's scary. But I speculate that it will and is happening right now, already. Another but: workforce displacement is a sucky but not unusual result. Once younger people work jobs that haven't been reduced and there aren't many people struggling to shift careers, everyone will (probably) accept it.

Would you rather hire five people to shovel a long driveway, or plow it with a pickup truck by 1 person in 10 minutes?

I'm concerned about what AI is going to do to our lives, but I'd say I'm more concerned on the effects of human-to-human interaction it will have more than job opportunities. I see the former as potentially devastating on a large scale for a long time, whereas the latter I see as hopefully normal economical evolution (ignoring extreme 'maybe' scenarios).

Have I ever stopped playing the normal part of a game to dig a hole? Oh yes. It was called Red Faction.

Out Now!

Not really. It's Early Access.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
“~12-18 months”
The game looks really cute, and the points it makes sound appealing, so I want to know when it releases and am likely to purchase, but not interested in paying to be a beta tester.

I have a lot of SnowRunner hours. I can't say abandoning it and jumping into RoadCraft is a sure thing, but it looks interesting to say the least.

Development continues on it. There isnt any DLC yet. I suspect that a DLC could happen which is usually fine as long as it doesnt go the road of Hero Siege etc.
I sure hope there isn't any DLC since it's Early Access!!

It'll be nice to give this a spin for free.

Thanks for posting stuff like this, as I just ran into a Battle.net update problem today, and I remembered seeing this article. The GE Proton 9-23 version fixed it! (I was previously using the Lutris default.)

Positively rated immersive-sim FPS Fortune's Run is on hold as the developer is going to prison

The most unusual reason for a game getting delayed. lol

I will assume the conviction was just. I gotta have some trust in due process, otherwise I'll go crazy. So, in that case, hopefully the punishment is effective and the dev can be better at life.
