Feral Interactive will be livestreaming Total War: WARHAMMER for Linux on the 16th of November

Nice! :D

Feral just keeps pumping games out lately!

Sooo Liam good buddy Liam so you know Feral quite well right ol' pal?

Sure ya do!

So you know how everyone on GOL would do stuff for you, well would you mind slipping a message to your friends at Feral during your gaming/livestream session with them for us?

I'll just come right out and say it.

DiRT3, they ported it to Mac a whole bunch of years ago, and that's great! But what would be greater is if they could also port it to Linux, they have the source code, they have the license so should be easily doable. I know the game works in Wine, but that's nothing compared to a Feral native port!

Feral Interactive's Linux ports may come with Vulkan sooner than we thought (UPDATED)

Liam,

This is not "fun news" or "good news".

This is "epicly awesome news"

Maybe now we will find out just how well Vulkan can really perform on wait hang on what OS? oh yeah. GNU/Linux! :woot:

I keep forgetting we can play games on GNU/Linux now with plenty of choice :woot:

I just can't believe how far we've come with gaming on GNU/Linux now!

(I say that as someone who's used GNU/Linux since 2003, when the idea of AAA games on GNU/Linux was insane.)

Aspyr Media are reminding Linux gamers not to give up hope on Civilization VI

I have to wonder though, could this be due to Feral? Now I don't mean "did feral do something to the port" or anything like that.

But more from a business perspective, Feral have been getting lots of business lately and the majority of AAA ports now seem to be coming from them instead of VP or Aspyr.

It is entirely possible that Feral is getting all the major contracts for GNU/Linux ports which is somewhat leaving the other porting houses with a lack of GNU/Linux port contracts.

So they the other porting houses may have to wind down their budgets for GNU/Linux ports, which in turn means less GNU/Linux ports from those porting houses.

Remember, Feral and Aspyr are direct competitors and it would appear at this moment in time that Feral is winning over Aspyr for contracts.

So with that information in mind, that could be why we are seeing less and less Aspyr GNU/Linux ports and more and more from Feral.

Thus, the verdict and solution here is simple:
ScoobyDoo Feral where are you?

We need you to port this game!

Well I decided to buy this one even though I'm way way way below the minimum spec.

Supporting my team though.

While you're here feral, any word on whether the ported versions contain the Denuvo digital restrictions management software?

Also I've noticed that Feral have gone in and out-moderated the moderator. That's hilarious.

I'm guessing Laptop65 thought he was still the only moderator in town and all of a sudden Feral moderator pops up and out moderates him. I'm sorry but that is hilarious.

I wonder if Feral will be debugging the moderator as well?

Feral to the rescue it seems!

Quoting: liamdaweWell, he is right to contact Feral if people want support, but his locking of those two other posts was a bit weird and there was no reason too. At least this time he isn't be rude or obnoxious.

I've noticed him brushing with Linux users often, as I have too come across him in a forum. He does seem rather anti-Linux.
In my personal opinion, a moderator represents a company (in this case WB) as much as the PR guy or a developer.

However his views are in opposition of the companies interest (obviously) as such he should be keeping such attitude to himself rather than projecting his negative views towards a platform as it comes across as if that is how the company feels to the customer.

It's one thing for him to have an attitude like that with a game without Linux/Mac support it's a whole different story when he does it for a game that is already Linux/Mac supported as this could / will effect customers who just want to use the game forum like any other user to discuss the game and or problems.

Why should Linux/Mac users be treated by a moderator any differently than Windows users? They are both customers are they not?

In my opinion WB need to debug their moderator and fix some bugs.

It's great to see this game come to Linux, sadly I'm below minimum spec (Graphics card) so won't be picking this up until it comes to PC upgrade time (next year) but it is awesome to see it ported, thanks Feral!

Anyhows, on a slightly different note..

So the moderator in the Mad Max forums (Laptop65) is pretty much completely anti-linux (and mac too I assume) and is still going around locking any Linux related thread even AFTER the game is released.

Examples:

http://steamcommunity.com/app/234140/discussions/0/340412122405383186/ [External Link]

And his also basically saying "Want support? don't use these forums!" to people who want help:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/234140/discussions/0/340412122405931871/ [External Link]

He has a longer history on anti-linuxness seriously just search the Mad Max forum, you'll see almost every thread that says the word "Linux" is locked:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/234140/discussions/search/?q=linux&gidforum=541907867768712082&include_deleted=1 [External Link]

So guys, if you want support on Linux or want to talk about Linux avoid the Mad Max forums.

Or that old awesome dude Liam could make an article about it and name and shame but I don't condone that and you didn't hear it from me ;-)
