Steam Machine & Steam Frame FAQ - RAM and storage crisis to blame for no pricing or dates

While this is somewhat bad news, and very unlucky for Valve, I'm going to practice some positivism (don't get used to it):

- If the devices are delayed, it will mean more developing time for HDMI VRR (HUGE, btw!!), FSR, Leap, Frame UI, QA for all of it... and maybe even for a Half-Life 3 🤣 Plus whatever I'm forgetting.
- I'd prefer waiting 6 months and see a price most people can get on board with, that rushing the release and see the machines flop.
- It also gives us more time to save some ££$$€€ (Will even start saving on groceries too when I change my diet to solely eating the rich)

AMD say the Steam Machine is "on track" for an early 2026 release

Quoting: SzkodnixI'm still worried about the price. Even the most pessimistic scenario of $1,000 is becoming less and less realistic option.
Same. I read, on RPS I think, that the Frame could probably be also around that. I hope that doesn't mean that the controller will go up to the $100 mark.

Epic Games Store saw a 57% increase in purchases for third-party PC games in 2025

Quoting: scorp10n2000Why would anyone want to buy games on Un-Epic (shit)Store? 🤔

I only buy games on Steam and GOG.
UnEpic however is a great Metroidvania parody (although the humour is very teenager-stoner like 😅)

I also buy only on Steam and GOG.

If we're too late to say "Happy New year" to friends we see for the first time in 2026, we are too late to say "Early 2026" for this as well. Or maybe May counts as early as it's in the first half of the year? Do they mean early financial year?

P.S: I'd like the devices out now, please.

Hard to say, Lucas Arts SCUMM engine itself was initially about 2D adventure games, but in practice it was something more like a programming basis, same way ScummVM may be more than just about adventure games.

But overall I'd say majority of ScummVM games are still adventure games.
Exactly. My question to @Geamandura was semi-rethorical, it probably wasn't clear enough, to make a point that OpenMW or Heroes would not fit the ScummVM ideology.

Initially and most of them are, but they branched out into more types, like Blade Runner.
I'd consider Blade Runner a traditional point&click :)

Well, if they're bailed out... guillotine.

Quoting: GeamanduraThis was always an amazing project to provide a 2D adventure game engine, but I genuinely don't understand what are they doing now with including separate engines for running a 3D game Penumbra. At this point what stops them from e.g. including OpenMW, including the Heroes 2 and Heroes 3 open source engines, etc.? What is the purpose of this project morphing into a bundle of their initial vision engine plus more and more unrelated random shit?

As long as I can get shelled roasted sunflower seeds to sit on a bench and look at rich people jump from big buildings, I'll be alright.

Yeah, you're right :(

When I moved to the UK I only had a tiny notebook with me, which I couldn't upgrade for some years, with Linux on it. Back then, there weren't many games on Linux, and much less that my laptop could run. ScummVM was my saviour, allowing me to play all the great LucasArts classics again. And for that, I'm super grateful.
