A bunch of Feral Interactive Linux ports may be broken on Arch and others, here's a possible workaround
28 Sep 2017 at 8:19 pm UTC

I found a workaround that works here: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/70k7t9/mad_max_wont_run_on_slackwarecurrent_steam/ [External Link]

Basically, cd to the game's lib directory and run ln -s x86_64/* . -- worked with Life is Strange and Shadow of Mordor, haven't tried any others yet.

Edit: Tried on Ubuntu 17.10

Quoting: BrisseFeral games stopped working for me on Ubuntu 17.10 a few days ago. Remembered this article and suspected the issue might be related, however, the workaround provided does not work for me. Anyone else with Ubuntu 17.10 who have run into issues lately?
Yep, me.

Yah, I dunno... if you like only a small number of the games you'll have to buy them anyway or you'll quickly be paying more in monthly fees to "keep" them than what they'd have cost you otherwise. Not to mention they might not remain available even then. It's less of an issue with Netflix because I find it easier to find something to watch in an unmotivated half-coma than something to play. But I guess if you're eager to check out new games all the time, just for the sake of games/gaming/the medium/indies, it's worth it! I'll try the trial.

Hollow Knight to add a Halloween free content update with lots of new content

Quoting: ElectricPrismWont fix the bad level design.

By 90s gaming standards Super Metroid level design still ranks way higher.

I mean maybe some people are okay with running rediculously far across the map and the bad spacing of the saves.

Also Im not a fan of the map only being updated on save or buying map pieces just to give money a purpose.
The previous Hidden Dreams update added a teleportation skill. Of course you'll have done a fair bit of running back and forth before you get your hands on that upgrade.

I really like the look of it, but it seems more like an interactive art piece than a game. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just unsure how much content there is behind the great aesthetics.

Hm. Not much to see in the trailer, enemy-wise, except for isolated equally Lego-y fighters...

It's a very generic design...

I've never to my knowledge touched an actual NES (or Master System for that matter); at the time it was all about the home computers for my friends and me... so while I do get lukewarm nostalgic fuzzies from games like this one (or Alwa's Awakening or Shovel Knight) that capture some of the audiovisual idiosyncrasies of the NES I still have to wonder where the neo-Commodore- and neo-Atari games are! :) (Hyper Sentinel sounds like it's using a beefed-up SID, at least... is it going to be released any time soon?)
