For anyone interested in binge watching a ton of different games being played on the Steam Deck here's a YouTube channel I found.

Borderlands 3 and Halo 3 look pretty good on the steam deck. :)

And just for the memes: yes it can run Crysis.

: What do you think about the Steam Deck?

“I'm still waiting to get my hands on a devkit, but from what I've gathered it is running LINUX, so that means all the ports, we've done for the Nintendo Switch (Unavowed, Primordia) will be easily portable to it.
I wonder what he means by that exactly. Is he saying at an OS level they are similar (I don't know what the Switch's OS is based off of) or maybe the various APIs are similar/the same like how Vulkan is available on the Switch or maybe other reasons?

We're living in a weird world with Sony's Shuhei Yoshida excited about a Linux handheld

Sounds kinda crazy but I wouldn't be surprised if they partner with Valve. Plagman has thanked both Sony and Capcom for early access to their games to get them up and running on the Steam Deck. Plus Shuhei Yoshida seems to like it :)

Here's some of what we've learned about the Steam Deck

Quoting: slembckeYeah, it's kinda neat! Basically it runs a private XWayland server, then launches a game inside that so it renders to a "virtual screen" of sorts. It kinda solves the problem of games that launch into a window when you want to force them to be fullscreen (or the other way around). It can force certain resolutions then scale them up to the desired screensize, etc. Basically it's kinda like the experience of running a game in an emulator, but it's for native games. Useful and neat, but not a killer feature unless you are building a handheld gaming PC perhaps. ;)
Thanks for the response :) I'll give it a shot when I have some spare time. My main reason for trying out Gamescope is curiosity, but since moving to Wayland I've had issues with my Steam controller and the mouse cursor not moving for certain games like The Witcher and Dragon Age Origins. I've looked up the issue and it has to do with the compositor (I'm using clutter, but I think it also effects the plasma compositor too).

Does anyone have experience with using Gamescope? I know I can install it on my Manjaro box through the AUR, but will it replace my current compositor or is it some thing I can install side by side and call on a per game basis within Steam? Thanks in advance for anyone with info.

Quoting: TheReaperUKAnyone else getting a strange dialog box just after the intro but before the menu, its unreadable but once click the only click box loads to menu fine?

Would add a picture but not sure how to do it here??
I thought I was the only one :) It almost looked like Hindi or Arabic writing; strange enough with this update it doesn't pop up anymore. Plus a lot of the studder I would get for the left 4 dead 1 parts of the game are gone after using -vulkan.

Valheim still growing with 4 million sales, hits top 5 of most played games on Steam ever

Fantastic to have such a popular game developed on and for Linux with full support
So this game was developed on linux then? If so, is there anywhere I can get more details on that?

Quoting: chimpyNot completely relevant to the article, but does anyone know how to install a non Steam DLC to a Steam Proton game? Specifically Mass Effect; Steam doesn't have any of the DLC available but they are available for free as executibles on the EA site. Tried to install by adding it like you'd add a non Steam game to Steam, but when it looks for where Mass Effect is installed it can't find it.
Hello.

It proved to be quite simple - you just need to replace MassEffect.exe (make backup copy) from SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Mass Effect/Binaries with your DLC executeble, renamed as MassEffect.exe. Then start the game from Steam. It will launch installation in the game wine prefix. Do it for both DLC, then replace MassEffect.exe back from backup.

Hope this helps.
Wow that was a really simple fix for a problem that had been driving me crazy, so thank you both Trias and adamhm.

Got a link to the DLC download? I can try to figure out how to install them Manually.
Thanks for the help this is the link:

Just scroll down to the Mass Effect section and it has both Pinnacle Station and Bringing Down the Sky for download. I'm almost done with ME but I didn't want to finish without also finishing up the 2 DLCs. And now that I see this I think I'ma also downloads some of the DLCs for Dragon Age Origins lol.
