It's not a "completely" new genre, but it is definitely a new sub-genre. The play is quite different.
Quoting: ArdjeLMS has been the long time term for LMS style games until PUBG called LMS battle royale as if it is a completely new gametype.Last Man Standing is a game on a small map, with fixed weapons or loot, without any timeout or moving zones. Battle Royale is a game on a large map, with random weapons or loot and a moving zone that gets smaller all the time.

The game is absolutely based on the movie in various aspects. One example:

Interesting game!
Cross-Platform-Multiplayer between desktop computers and consoles is just extremely unfair for console players. You don't have the slightest chance against people playing with a mouse when it comes to shooters.

I absolutely love Godot. The first time I used it, it just clicked. The Scene/Node-System is just very nice to work with.
Some people say that Godot is better than Unity, Unreal and CryEngine. Some people say that it looks better and performs better. I have yet to see actual demos that back up these claims. And I don't think I will see one in the next few years.
You can't just outperform commercial products that are being in development for multiple years by a developer that has an own department just for the renderer, where multiple people work only on this part of the engine full time for many years. Godots renderer was completely rewritten over the last 2 years, if I remember correctly, for the most part by one single person, and not full time.
Godot is nice just the way it is. FOSS is more important to me than pure technical prowess. That's why I use Godot.

Quoting: GustyGhostStrategic closedness. Unreal Engine are doing the same, I believe. With Unreal, the full source code is openly visible, and it is expected that you compile it yourself. With Unity, only a part of the source code is openly visible. If you want to see the rest of the code and compile the engine yourself, you have to purchase a "Source Code License".

The C# part of the Unity engine and editor source code. Now this is an interesting step. Yet, it is only a part of it. Unreal and Cryengine are open and can be compiled by users. That's not the case with Unity. Apparently, you can get a "Source Code license" to see everything, but those will likely come with NDAs.

Quoting: PatolaI didn't mind rogue-like but now that it's screwing with my favorite genres, I am getting really upset by this. WHY, oh WHY this game could not be a regular tactical RPG with hand-crafted levels and use of savegames?I wouldn't worry. As far as I can see, there isn't much Rogue in this game. It's an over-used term and doesn't have much meaning anymore. That's the plague of any game genre with a name. After getting popular, they end up with a different meaning.

Being in the sky is not a problem, if the weapons and distances are balanced accordingly. Never played the Royale version, but regular Robocraft does this pretty well.

Quoting: km3kI looked into Leaving Lyndows and Linux and uh... not a good sign.Still a good sign in my opinion. The developer felt that the Linux version he had wasn't good enough. That's a very honest move from the dev. He could have easily continued to sell the Linux version. But he chose not to.

The restriction counts per process, not per application. A 32 bit application spawning multiple threads (processes) can use all the RAM there is. You can have a thread for physics (the physical boundaries of a level is almost always different from the visual geometry), one thread for AI, one thread for dynamic music... and so on.
I just started Civ 5, and it uses 14 threads.
