Okay... what a bold move. But then again, the "stable version" of the new client was (and still is) also buggy. I think the new UI has a few good ideas, but it is still rather buggy, sluggish (but better than in the alpha), and it wastes A LOT of space. When I maximize the window, there is so much unused space.
Sorry, but I think what Valve is doing lately with their client is awful. I love what they're doing with Linux and FOSS in general, but... they're really doing a shitty job regarding their client.
Not that they're alone with this, but... when I installed Steam for the first time more than 15 years ago, everything was quick, snappy and performant. With a computer that has roughly the same processing power as my router has now (that may be a slight exaggeration ;) ). My computer now has so much more power that is it rather hard to express, yet Steam, and many other softwares, struggle to run smoothly.
That seriously sucks.

These filters don't make the image actual sharp (as in making blurry things sharp), they make it appear sharper to the human eye.

There are interesting ideas in there, but not much of it has been implemented or realized. The statement that the tecnological achievements of the engine will allow for "vast and endless gameplay possibilities" was a very big turn off for me.

It's interesting how differently people look at automation. Some see it as the tool to let humans be more human, some see it as the danger that makes humans less human. Personally I think driving a car, or to be more precise, transportation is something a machine can do much better. Humans could use the free time for... well, being more human. A cab driver and a passenger are being put into the same vehicle by fate. There they are, one has to work, and the other has to get somewhere. So what do they do? They talk, maybe. One might think that this could get lost when machines drive a cab. But... you can also go ahead and just talk to strangers if you like. If people like this kind of thing, it will prevail, and thanks to automation, we don't have to rely on luck anymore. We can just do it, and we even have more time and focus for it.
I don't share these dark views on automation, but the game seems definitely interesting.

Quoting: KijBetaBack in 2006, at a conference a young woman asked about changes happening and the implications of the "business" on a GNU project he had some kind of personal interest in.I'm not going to believe that the actual and real RMS said these things and meant it like that. I would if you tell me he wore his St. Ignucius outfit at that moment and showed his odd humor. But I'm not going to believe this without a source on that. And with source I don't mean yet another article with vague third party knowledge. You're right. Not everything has a definitive written and archived source. That means that not everything is documented, but this works both ways. Until I happen to know that this actually took place, I'm going to disregard it as a rumor.
His response was something about her being a dumb blond, and later implied that she won't get far if she is not showing more of her body and other skills.

Quoting: KijBetaIt took a characterization of his remarks in a disturbing twisted way to finally get rid of him.RMS harassed other people? What did he do to others? Is there any source on that? And what do you mean with "culture he was part of"? What kind of culture?
But his real remarks, and harassment should have been enough to get rid of him 20 years ago.
It's been more than 20 years of disturbing sexual, harassing, and disparaging remarks made by him.
Honestly never should have gotten to this point, he should have been removed and fired many many years ago.
The truly disturbing part is that people, are acting like the BS that went down in the news cycle means he did nothing wrong.
It's okay to appreciate his work and devotion to the Free Software Movement, and still not want him to be celebrated due to his sexual harassment, and disturbing ideas that got ignored for years due to the culture he was a part of.

Personally, I think the dynamic collection sounds nice at first, but I think for me it's like it is with the automatic/dynamic playlist creating found in music library tools. You can configure a lot of stuff, but in the end... it is based on categorizations done by others, in this case the community. Anyone can tag any game anything, regardless if you agree on that categorization.
In the end, what you need is to make your own collection manually, or you follow a collection another person did. With many music streaming services it's like that. There's someone who's taste you like, and he made a playlist for "rock", and both of you have the same idea of what that means? Nice, you can just follow this guy. If you don't you have to do it on your own.
Just as much as "rock" can mean a very broad range of songs, "adventure" or "RPG" can mean a very broad range of games. As I said in another comment in another news: If you want to have a rogue-like collection, you have to do it manually. There's no way that the collective meaning is true for any individual.
Categories were possible for quite some time. I'm not sure if this new dynamic feature is really useful.

Quoting: Liam DaweA list of games by favourite porters/developers? Added and so on. So many uses for it...Where can you set up a dynamic collection based on developer or porter? I didn't find that.
