I'm going to follow this closely. Looks very promising.

Well... that's certainly not what I expected. This is quite underwhelming. The library "home page" is a good thing, but the game pages are pretty much just the same thing with a skin. It shows stuff in a different way, just adding community content as a new thing - which I don't really need. I don't want twitching GIFs displayed when looking at a game page. The "new" shelves/collections are just categories. But at least you can manage categories easier now. The dynamic ones sound interesting, but I'm not sure if these are actually useful. I already have a "Walking Simulator" category, but it would be of course kinda nice to not have to put a new game manually there. But... using the store tag "Walking Simulator" ends up with all kinds of games... even Skyrim, which is of course a joke of the community. This just can't work out. The other options were not really useful, especially "genres".
And, I have to say... it's an absolute mess regarding performance. Yes. it's a beta. But honestly... an open beta from Valve shouldn't be so incredibly bad with performance. One might say that it's gonna be patched, but... the friends window seems to use the same UI technologies, and it's also quite wonky at times. And that's out for quite some time.
Seriously, I love Valve, but that's just... that's just really not what I expected.
(Thought to add that other companies are not better with that, sadly. Uplay can be sluggish, too, and is also not a bright example of UI design.)

I'm not sure if this can not be understood as some kind of an insult.

Quoting: KithopKind of off-topic here, but I mean, 'mouth pieces of the public opinion because they want to get re-elected' is pretty much modus operandi for politics, isn't it?It is, nobody likes it, yet we got so accustomed to it that we think it's better for everyone to follow that line of behavior. Makes no sense to me. That's why I'm baffled.
Quoting: KithopAlso, I'm a bit confused here, on 'shitty social rules'.I'm referring to the behavior mentioned above as shitty social rule.
Quoting: KithopIf you're the spokesperson for an organization, be it a non-profit or a C-level exec of a megacorporation, the opinions you air in public reflect on that organization, no matter how much you try to qualify it as personal vs. professional. That's part of being a public figure and spokesperson. Yeah, it sucks [...]I know how it sadly is right now. It shouldn't be. Everybody can decide on how to act: Make your footprint on society as a silent person, or someone who speaks out loud for what he thinks is right. I absolutely know how chilling the pressure can be, and that's why I wish it wouldn't be there.

Also... I'm absolutely not happy about the GNOME Foundation pulling such an publicity stunt. GNOME originates from the GNU project in the past, and the leader of GNOME reads a fucking VICE article for the latest news on RMS?

I'm absolutely baffled how many people here in the comments simply accept shitty social rules as if they should not be different. One is to be silent about a topic that is controversial? Well... the situation is this: What is controversial is contemporary and changes all the time.
We shouldn't use the age of information to hold this info against each other. That's really the worst way to handle the new world and the new international networked society. It is not useful to discredit opinion A about topic X because the same person had opinion B about topic Y. We are blogging, chatting, posting, commenting and so on all the time. But as soon as we have as bigger amount of followers or have a managing or leading position, we have to be even more silent about topics?
Do leaders of countries have to be almost silent about almost anything, then? Of course not. Because then they would just be mouth pieces of the public opinion because they want to get re-elected.
People can't seriously think that this is acceptable or even to be defended. It should be gotten rid of.

The Europen Space Agency also did some very interesting stuff. They made it happen to LAND a probe on a COMET. It started in 2004 and landed in 2016, after a series of flybys of a number of planets to gain enough speed to accomplish this. It is mind boggling if you think of the planning that has gone into this. I wonder if there was any coverage of that in the US or other regions.

Key reseller G2A is back in the spotlight again, as a petition is up to ask them to stop selling indie games

There are so many flawed systems on this planet. And there are so many assholes who abuse those flaws. It is correct that you have to protect yourself from the flaws to solve the issue with assholes. That still means that assholes are assholes. And dam, G2A is the biggest and nastiest bunch of assholes I've ever seen. And their customers are right up there with them.

Quoting: GuestG2A (and other grey market sites) are not the problem, they are a symptom. The whole system is flawed and G2A are simply taking advantage of it. This misdirected anger will ultimately solve nothing. You are not wrong that shouting at G2A will solve nothing, because they know what they are doing and will continue to do so as long as it is possible and they have customers that see things equally as G2A: "I just want to have more for less, regardless of the consequences for others." Almost all people who buy there and have said so in topics about the whole thing do know what is happening there. They just don't care (but still create some bullshit explanations why it is fine to buy there).

Steam's top releases of May show why Steam Play is needed for Linux

I think in the case that a title has official support for Steam Play and it works well, then it is "native" enough for me. I don't really care if there is a wrapper running, or if there is a runtime supplied that runs the game. There are tons of Dosbox games on Steam, and that's just fine.
The main thing is official support from devs who make great games. That is what I want to support with my money. That I use Linux is just my personal choice, and it is awesome when I can enjoy great games on a great OS. How exactly the port is done should not be my main concern.
