Designed for big-screen TV gaming, the SteamOS-like 'GamerOS' has a new release

I remember some recent discussion in the GamerOS Discord about branding. I got the sense that the devs feel somewhat the same way as some of the comments above and they're open to name suggestions...

This looks like a heck of a lot of fun. Though I also drew Mario levels and gigantic mazes on graph paper obsessively as a kid, so maybe that's just me.

Quoting: MohandevirBecause I use Retropie/Recalbox on mon Rpi2... It's based on Emulation Station... Couldn't there be a way to fork it for desktop use? Like in showing the different store fronts/launchers instead of emulators? Just my two cents, even if I would like, I have no skills in the matter.

Sorry... Just brainstorming, here.

Looks like EmulationStation can be built and run on a desktop already, no forking necessary. I'd imagine there would still considerable work to be done "gluing" the UI to Lutris. But, certainly a neat idea.

Quoting: MohandevirWhat I would like to see is a "complete DE" based on a fullscreen gamepad controlled Lutris UI, for sofa gaming. A Lutris based SteamOS (BPM) concept. Probably an unrealistically huge undertaking for the Lutris team, but it would be awesome nonetheless.

"One launcher to rule them all".

Edit: It's just a wish I have... Else, keep doing your awesome work, making gaming on Linux easier.

There might be a way to use GameHub for this, as it can be controller-driven. Not exactly the prettiest big-picture interface, and it lacks some of Lutris's nice under-the-hood features such as managing multiple Wine versions, but it does integrate with Steam/Gog/Humble and can be configured to launch emulators.

Another approach might be for someone (more talented than I) to write a plugin for an existing frontend (like Kodi, etc) that integrates with Lutris's underlying functionality.

Man, I love the look of this. And it runs so smooth (unlike Starfox)...

Oh, I'd love to win a copy. This would spice up my nightly Dr. Mario competition with my girlfriend, haha.

Quoting: LinasThe games has quite a learning curve. The first time I tried it, I was bouncing from wall to wall like a rubber ball, totally out of control. It gets easier with practice, but I didn't really have the patience to get anywhere near the level where I would feel comfortable. Otherwise, good game.

If I remember right, that's essentially how Wipeout & Wipeout XL were. It takes some time, but once you start to get a feel for it, it's quite satisfying to start winning races.

SteamOS-like Linux distribution GamerOS has a new release up

I've been using it since the last time it was featured here on GoL. I am really enjoying it... the Steam Buddy feature is great (though a bit rough around the edges), and a much nicer replacement for the old Ice and Steam Rom Manager tools which I've had mixed results with in the past.

I always appreciate a good Commodore 64 cameo.

Linux game launcher 'GameHub' has a brand new release, with game tweaking support

The SteamGridDB (etc) integration is one nice, albeit superficial, feature of GameHub (major props to the artist who made all of these grid images):

All GameHub needs is a "Big Picture Mode" and we could be building a SteamOS-killer around it! :D

Edit: the Itch.io integration is a welcome addition, I'll have to update and test it out.
