Hope this helps to ease the pain with the loooong slideshow on every other startup of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

THQ Nordic is bringing Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy to Linux

I played this game on Gamecube and pretty much enjoyed it, although there were some areas where particle effects for water/fire/lava brought the framerate down to single digits.

Don't be too harsh on the Zelda comparisons, in my opinion this game is worth anyone's time without them. Just like the Darksiders games that THQ released later on.

If you enjoyed one of their games in the past, you can't go wrong with the newer/other ones.

Thanks for the rich review, much appreciated. I didn't know about the game code being available.

But as a fellow dinosaur I guess I cannot give this game a fair go without comparing it to DF in every aspect. Wanted to love Gnomoria for example and was not able to put a lot of time into that.

Quoting: liamdaweDying Light should not be classed as an FPS, which was the entire aim of the list.
Well, in my opinion Deus Ex should not be classed as an FPS as well. While it might be possible for the player to use guns in this game, that is not what the game is about and the shooting should be kept at the minimum.

On the other hand: yeah, a bit of promotion never did any wrong for the series and everyone should give it a try.
Will agree to disagree on this one I think. Guns are a big part of Deus Ex, but Dying Light is very melee focused.
I encourage everyone to try the stealthy non-lethal approach for the smooth operator bonuses or even attempting to get ghost bonuses for not being detected at all. There is no need to fire a single weapon or use any lethal items or augmentations. Go full pacifist and (remote) hack the planet! Use the environment for alternative routes or to distract your foes.

So no, guns are no big part of Deus Ex for me (with the exception of the stupid boss fights in Human Revolution that required shooting). Not at all. If I really engage in combat in MKD, I only use melee (the few times I used the stun gun I consider melee as well, it covers only very short distance). And while I never fired a single round of lead, I didn't feel like I am missing something from the game.

But I know, Deus Ex is a series about choices and very different solutions. I know some people regard the games as shooters. But in my eyes, by the choices I made, they are not.

Oh, I didn't know you could blow up the purple bot spawners, good to know!

Descent still holds up to its own legacy, it is still the best game of its kind.

What have you been playing and what do you think?

Playing Secret of Mana again right now and enjoying it as much as 20 years ago.

I played a lot of Wild Terra after the key toss here. Had a hard time clicking, the mouse actions are certainly weird there. Stopped playing after 58 hours because you cannot advance on your own after a certain point and the PVE server is mostly abandoned.

Was wishing Orborun to be a new kind of Marble Blast or Super Monkey Ball, but it is not even close. Very limited controls. Stupid wall bounce mechanic. Collision detection on items seems wonky, too.

Got Shoppe Keep gifted and gave it a go. Very shallow gameplay.

Played about half an hour of Back to Bed and think I will get back to it later on. Puzzles have been very easy, but it is kind of addicting.

Some time ago I was playing a lot of Ziggurat and love that game. Still trying to get the speedrun achievement ;)

Would have loved to play The Whispered World, but it won't play nice and keeps crashing.

Other than that I still fire up Dwarf Fortress every now and then.
