I really like the story single player levels with all their secrets and gorgeous architecture. The fantastic soundtrack that pumps you through the waves of auto-ops in the challenge levels. And I am really looking forward to playing this in multi player. It's not exactly the first time I play such a game over the net, but dial-up prices in the nineties were ridiculously high and my LAN party buddies never got into 6DOF.
Right now I'm using keyboard and mouse, but according to their own forums their support for input devices is excellent! It's even possible to hook up two joysticks at once to control yourPyro ship. Maybe this is the best time to (literally!) dust off my old Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. Sadly I don't have my Cyberman 2 controller that looks like it was ripped out of an alien movie anymore, but I guess I couldn't plug it in nowadays anyways.

Satellite Reign is a great game imo. It's a difficult one and for a tactical RPG it has quite a bit of randomness, but nothing too serious. And the only technical difficulty I had was using the ALT key to trigger certain actions in-game, as that was captured by the command box of the Unity desktop.

Saw the game first on MPJ's FunFunFunction channel on YouTube during a pair programming session with the original developer (#53). He made Mattias code in C# in Unity instead of typing Javascript. Very nice game and very cool dude!
The Little Ball That Could is a rather great marble platformer that's now out on Linux

Instant download for the demo.
If it really controls as tightly as Marble Madness, Kororinpa, Super Monkey Ball or Marble Blast, this will be bought for sure!

Quoting: TheRiddickLooks so very much like Decent, not sure how it compares to decent underground but sounds and effects look more homage to Decent then DU. Probably better too,.Overload is made by Kulas and Toschlogg, the original Descent developers. This game beats D:U in every aspect.

Too bad Trackmania, a former Depp Silver game, is now published by Ubisoft. I'd really like to see newer Trackmania titles on Linux!
Koch Media also owns titles like Fortnite and Micro Machines. They also co-published the X games series with Egosoft.

A handy quote from the comments on the previous article for the game on GamingOnLinux:
Quoting: stratusI bought this game in order to help them test. The developer is very open to feedback but its important to remember that it is a single dev shop and they (I'm not sure the gender of the dev) only have a single machine with Ubuntu and very little Linux experience.
If you do choose to try the game out, go easy on them as they are just testing the waters for linux support and are looking to the community to kind of help them along if they are to continue developing for linux.
One common thing I noticed (and found a work around for) is that, though the game starts the first time in windowed mode, if you change it to full screen for game play and then quit, the next time you launch the game you will be greeted with a black screen (audio still plays and you can alt-f4 out...). The work around is to hit Alt-Enter to drop into windowed mode, and alt-enter again to go back to full screen.
Windows 10 S might alarm Valve into boosting SteamOS again

Well, locking down Windows to UWP programs might eat a lot into Valve's budget, but at least they can boost Steam OS with full force and stop the perpetual hidden polishing and porting to modern platforms on their secretly finished Half life 3 product like they did for the last 12 years or so. That will include Steam VR of course. I bet Gaben has that all prepped up for emergency release in one of his drawers.
I just hope no one will start calling Linux the Gaming OS once that happens!

Six-degree-of-freedom shooter 'Overload' will now have multiplayer at release, teaser video revealed

The source code for Descent is available as well and source ports like Rebirth are faithful implementations for modern operating systems with some advanced features.
Back in the days internet access was unaffordable and you are right, a lot of people cannot cope with the controls. So there weren't many opponents to be found at LAN parties. This time I will dive into the multi player. Let's see how well I'm going to score as a mouse looker against (sometimes even multiple) joystick users.
I'm also looking forward to the release of the level editor. I have fond memories of spending a lot of time with Devil, the editor by Achim Stremplat.

Quoting: pete910Looks like another Forsaken/descent clone tbh which was a lot of fun but there are a lot of people that can't cope with the whole 6dof thing. It is the best reincarnation of the tried and true formula by the original developers. Can't wait to get my hands on a modded "real" Pyro, but otherwise it is spot on and I'm prepared to descend ;)
Forsaken is actually oss now for those interested link [External Link]

Train Station Simulator now has an alpha version available for Linux

Does the game only support dead end tracks in the train station? Is that because it does not feature different floors?
I think managing multiple levels on a single station would greatly enhance the possible designs. But for starters cheating with 2.5D bridges/walkways/tunnels for the passengers to walk would open up the design space as well.
