Quoting: PatolaI am curious, what would be the reason for a "no sales" policy?I didn't know what to think of the no sales policy when I first saw it. But it actually turned out to be quite refreshing in practice. Instead of buying a game you may or may not play anytime soon just because it is on sale, you can just buy it right when you are ready to play it. However I suppose that is not true at the moment, because it's effectively on a reverse sale until mid-April :P

If you ever liked a strategy or simulation game, just buy it already. So far I've paid less than 8 tenths of a cent per hour spent playing. And I still have 4 actives saves, that using settings and/or mods are as different from one another as most whole games are different to other games.

Rolling release is fantastic and I will never go back on my personal machines. Arch derivatives, Gentoo derivatives, or even Debian testing all will work. Source-based like Arch and Gentoo is just icing on the cake, because I love knowing I could patch anything if I wanted to, even though I've only used that twice over the last decade. Right now Arch has the best wiki, and that is way more valuable than most people appreciate.

This game ROCKS! The alien part almost made me not try it, but it's really only there to give you something to build towards. Seriously if you like strategy and/or building games its worth every single penny per hour of enjoyment, and it never goes on sale so just buy it when you want to play something new.

For a hardcore, bring you to your knees, strategic challenge AI War and its expansions are still one of the best games ever made. Even without fancy graphics, the uneven game design really poses a beautiful challenge for the player (or even co-op).
StarDrive 2, the rather good 4x space strategy game is now on Unity 5

Based on this and the last StarDrive2 article here I purchased this a month ago, but did not get around to testing it until now (version 1.2). When chromium was running, the game failed to start thinking I was already playing. When steam was running, it would crash in mono (maybe because its 64-bit only and steam is 32-bit only?). Even after eventually getting it to start directly from its executable and manually tweaking its prefs file, the end result was occasional segfaults at best or crashing the entire X server at worst. I am guessing from the comments here and the earlier StarDrive 2 thread that it worked much better prior to the Unity 5 update. However, you should definitely test this yourself if you purchase it right now, because even though this was my first refund request to Steam, it was denied because I did not test it immediately after purchase.
