Mesa 17.1 will use a set 1GB size for the shader cache

The shader cache is an important feature us AMD owners have been waiting for a long time on mesa. Cutting loading times and smoothing out hitches. Its important, although not all games need it as much as others.

Any discussion of Vulkan is good. We need to hear it talked about more and more. I want to see it adopted on PC as the standard going forward not DX12.

Linux gamers on Arch may want to hold off on updating due to openssl breaking some games (updated)

I havent played any games since the update. But it did a number on Spotify also. Looking through the comments on AUR I had to install some compat packages and update Spotify and it was working again.

Arch can be a blessing and a curse. I like it for getting the latest performance and dev on my GPU tho.

Wednesday Madness, a quick look at some good Linux gaming deals

Quoting: liamdaweWelcome to another Wednesday Madness article here at GOL. Another quick look at some good deals you shouldn't pass up!....

I grabbed Valley from Steam 60% off!

Quoting: PompesdeskyI would have rather supported Feral by directly buying Dirt Rally from them but it was too pricey for me @49.99€, couldn't resist the Humble Monthly :(

I'm waiting on a Feral sale for Dirt Rally, I will buy directly from them if possible. But I don't blame you, it costs too much right now and I was tempted by the humble bundle aswell.

NVIDIA have announced the TITAN Xp and it's a monster

Ive been toying with the idea of getting a 1070 or 1080 solely down to the drivers just working in most games on Linux. But I do want to continue to support AMD and I know open source is going to be better in the long run.

But seriously not interested by these Titans... Just money grabbing nonsense.

F1 2016 won't be coming to Linux, as sales of F1 2015 weren't strong enough

I played and enjoyed F1 2012? I believe.. But I haven't played the sequels. I heard 2015 was one of the worst of the series, so maybe not the best one to bring to Linux.

Actually I can't get behind a new F1 game for each season. They should charge for a base Formula 1 game then allow you to buy yearly updates/episodes that are cheaper than a full blown game for new car models and tracks.

Xonotic 0.8.2 released with new maps and numerous new features

I've never really looked too closely at Xonotic but it kinda reminds me of UT99 in how it plays from watching the video.

HEVN, a first-person sci-fi adventure game should have Linux support

The atmosphere is very well done. Elements of it remind me of classic fps games I used to enjoy.

Quoting: QuenestilIs he working for Epic or is just a fan?

He's not employed by Epic, he contributes patches and bug fixes on his own time. He's been mentioned on here and other Linux sites before, anyone can help support him on patreon if they really want.

Yaakuro shows off SteamVR on Unreal Engine 4 using Vulkan on Linux

It actually might be a good thing that OpenVR uses Vulkan to give a swift kick in the behind at Epic to get Vulkan working properly on desktop. AFAIK it runs but a few features are broken, most of the focus has gone towards mobile Vulkan support instead.

Good thing we have people like Yaakuro working on Linux support, but I expect more from Epic.
