One would assume they would have mentioned it in the patch notes. For last week I can confirm bad performance random crashes and giant trees outside my cockpit window. Groundforces worked okish. Not sure about now, but I do not feel like downloading the patch currently.

What are you playing this weekend?

Chaos Reborn, Dirt Rally and maybe a little Endless Space 2(proton)

Steam Play's Proton beta has been updated with a performance improvement and fixes

Quoting: DuncHeh. After me saying just this afternoon that Risen works perfectly apart from not saving, it now doesn't start at all. :dizzy:

Still, it doesn't seem to have broken anything else, although I haven't had time to properly test it all yet.
Try to find the configuration file and reset the refreshrate to 60. Helped the last time i updated my wine version for risen.

Valve officially confirm a new version of 'Steam Play' which includes a modified version of Wine

Got Endless Legend (needs "-useembedded" startoption) and Titan Souls running fine.

If they can provide the required tweaks avaliable in wine as a one click install and play experience for a majority of Windows titles this will be a gamechanger.
People will no longer feel chained by their big Win only Steam library (full of games they will most likely never play again anyway :P ) when considering switching their OS.

Question is how the out of the box experience will turn out in the long run, how many titles will actually work flawlessly and how they will handle the first triple A title getting broken by a patch after being whitelisted (which will definitely happen sooner or later).

Interesting times.

Looks like Harebrained Schemes are working on the Linux build of BATTLETECH now

Will be a day one Linux release buy.
If you ignore the mechlab and +++weapon nonsense it probably is the best BattleTech game since The Crescent Hawk's Inception ;-)

Quoting: marcusCan you qualify that? IMHO the "required user accounts crap" is wrong. I own CK2, EU4, Tyranny, PoE and none of these games forces me to have an account. [...]
Sure they do not force you but they clearly urge you.
Looking at CK2 for example: Let's say you are searching for a MOD to make the UI easier on the eyes. You will see that all links to mods that do not point to paradox mod forum have been deleted from Steam. Paradox mod forum access does require to have an paradox account (unlike the normal forum where you can at least read the content without one).
Promotional giveaways require an account too and if I read correctly for Battletech you have te log into your account on every game start to get your backer rewards in game.
Multiplayer also tends to need being logged in.
In conclusion I would not call it purely optional either.
Concerning telemetry - well they sure are not the only ones doing it and maybe they are simply more upfront with it then other, but that does not mean I must like it that they are trying to gather data at all.

Not a huge fan of this move.
Sure Paradox have some great games in their portfolio and quite a few Linux versions, but they also deeply into this telemetry and required user accounts crap + have a tendency to butcher their games for a lot of dlcs.
In short I always have a sour taste in my mouth when dealing with the publisher side of their games (of which I unfortunately tend to like quite a lot). If they continue further down this road I might need to consider putting them on my blacklist.

On the other hand best wishes to the HBS team! You won me over with the Shadowrun titles and I can not wait to get my hands on Battletech. Hope you guys will continue to make such great games in the future.
